Royal Enfield has launched the Thunderbird X in India. Thunderbird 350X and Thunderbird 500X have been priced at INR 1.56 Lakh and INR 1.98 Lakh respectively.
The Royal Enfield Thunderbird X is a more stylish version of the Thunderbird which is targeted at the urban youth. It has a sort of a custom look to it. It gets an all-black styling theme. The fuel tank and the pinstripe on the wheels get a trendy colour.
The Thunderbird 350X comes in Roving Red and Whimsical White colours while the Thunderbird 500X comes in Getaway Orange and Drifter Blue colours. The Thunderbird X is also the first Royal Enfield to be equipped with tubeless tyres and 9-spoke alloy wheels.
The Thunderbird X gets newly positioned flat handlebar, gunslinger style seat, new split grab-rail and shortened rear mudguard. The motorcycle also gets LED daytime running lamp integrated into the headlamp and an LED tail lamp.
Mechanically, the new bikes are same as the regular models. The Thunderbird 350X is powered by a 346cc air-cooled engine which produces 19.8 bhp at 5250 RPM and a torque of 28 Nm at 4000 RPM. The Thunderbird 500X is powered by a 499cc motor which develops 27.2 bhp at 5250 RPM and a torque of 41.3 Nm at 4000 RPM. Both the engines are mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
At the front, the motorcycles are equipped with 280mm ventilated disc with double piston calliper and 240mm ventilated disc with a single-piston calliper at the rear. The bike runs on 19-inch alloy wheels at the front and 18-inch wheels at the rear.
Suspension duty is done by Single down tube 41 mm forks with 130 mm travel at the front while the rear gets twin gas charged shock absorbers with 5-step adjustable preload and 80mm travel. Both the bikes get a ground clearance of 135 mm and an approximate fuel tank capacity of 20 litres. The Thunderbird 350X weighs 195 kg while the 500X weighs 197 kg.
