Tata Motors has announced the launch of what the company calls as India’s Own Electric SUV – the Nexon EV at an introductory price starting from INR 13.99 Lakh.

The new Nexon EV is termed as an aspirational SUV for personal car buyers looking for a thrilling, connected drive experience with zero emissions.
The Nexon EV will be available in three trim levels across 60 authorized dealerships in 22 cities. It will be available in three exciting colour options – Signature Teal Blue colour, Moonlit Silver and Glacier White.
Powered by the Ziptron technology, this pure electric SUV promises zippy performance, an ARAI certified anxiety-free range of 312 km on a single charge, an efficient high voltage system, fast charging capability, extended battery life and class-leading safety features.
To accelerate the adoption of EVs in India, Tata Motors is closely working with other Tata Group companies including Tata Power, Tata Chemicals, Tata Autocomp, Tata Motors Finance and Croma, to create an e-mobility ecosystem, Tata uniEVerse.
Powered by Tata uniEVerse, consumers will have access to a suite of e-mobility offerings including charging solutions, innovative retail experiences and easy financing options. Tata Motors has partnered with Tata Power to provide end-to-end charging solutions at home, workplace and for captive and public charging.
To develop the component supplier ecosystem, Tata Motors is collaborating with Tata Chemicals, which is working on manufacturing lithium-ion battery cells, exploring active chemicals manufacturing and battery recycling. The auto major is also working with Tata Autocomp for the localisation of the battery pack assembly and motor assembly.
As an extension to the consumer’s digital lifestyle, Tata Motors has partnered with Croma to provide a digital retail experience to its customers.
The last piece of the solution involves the introduction of affordable financing solutions for both personal and fleet segments, which will be provided by Tata Motors Finance.
The Tata Nexon EV is equipped with 30.2 kWh High energy density Lithium-ion battery pack which powers the Permanent Magnet Synchronous motor that produces 129 PS of power and 245 Nm of torque. It uses a single-speed transmission that propels the front wheels. The EV comes with two driving modes – Drive & Sports. It also gets Smart regenerative braking, Hill Ascent Assist and Hill Descent Assist.
The SUV can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 9.9 seconds. It comes with Fast and regular charging modes. It takes the vehicle 8 hours to charge from 10% to 90% using any 15 A plug point while using the fast charger the electric vehicle can be charged from 0% to 80% in just 60 minutes.
The Nexon EV weighs 1400 kg and comes fitted with 16-inch wheels. It uses Independent MacPherson strut with coil spring at the front and Torsion beam with hydraulic shock absorbers at the rear.
Stopping power comes from disc brakes at front and drum brakes at the rear. The NEXON also features ABS with EBD. The motor and battery pack both are IP 67 certified and the battery pack also features Liquid-cooled Thermal management system.
The new Nexon Electric measures 3993 mm in length, 1811 mm in width and 1606 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2498 mm along with a ground clearance of 205 mm and a boot capacity of 350 litres.
Tata Motors will be providing a warranty of 8 Year or 1,60,000 km (whichever is earlier) for the battery pack and electric motor along with a 3 Year or 1,25,000 km (whichever is earlier) standard warranty on the vehicle.
The Tata Nexon EV is based on the new Impact Design 2.0 design philosophy. It features Projector headlamps with Tri- arrow DRLs, Tri-arrow signature LED tail lamps, Dual-tone Floating roof, Piano black ORVMs with turn indicators, Roof Rails and Electric blue accents on humanity line, side beltline, X-Factor.
The all-electric SUV also comes with Electric sunroof with tilt-function, Auto headlamps, Rain sensing wipers, Fully automatic temperature control, Rear AC vents, Height adjustable driver seat, Smart key with push-button start and Wearable PEPS key.
Among other key features, the Nexon EV gets Tri-arrow themed Interiors, a leather-wrapped Flat bottom steering wheel, ConnectNext 7-inch Floating Dash-top touchscreen infotainment by Harman with 8 speakers, What3Words address-based navigation and Smart Connected Features with Tata Motors Zconnect Mobile App.
Key Safety features include Driver & Co-driver airbags, Driver seat belt with pre-tensioners, load limiters & crash-locking tongue, Child -safety rear door locks, ISOFIX anchorage points for child-seat and Camera-based reverse park assist.
