Maruti Suzuki India Limited has launched the new Alto, which has been India’s best-selling car for 15 consecutive years. The 2019 Maruti Suzuki Alto comes with enhanced safety features and a new look. The entry-level hatchback also gets a BS-VI compliant engine, nearly a year before the regulation being mandated.

The new Alto is said to be the first entry-level segment car in India to be compliant with contemporary safety and environment regulations. The car comes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brake Force Distribution System (EBD) as standard.
The new Alto facelift also receives Reverse Parking Sensor, Driver Airbag, Speed Alert System and Seat Belt Reminder for both driver and co-driver. The company claims that the 2019 Alto complies with upcoming crash and pedestrian safety regulation as well.
The new Alto is powered by a 796 cc, BS-VI compliant, 3-cylinder, petrol engine which is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. This motor makes 48 PS (35.3 kW) @ 6000 rpm and 69 Nm @ 3500 rpm. It is claimed to deliver a fuel efficiency of 22.05 kmpl.

The new Alto is available in 6 exterior paint options – Uptown Red, Superior White, Silky Silver, Granite Grey, Mojito Green and Cerulian Blue.






The updated BS-VI compliant engine will mean a substantial reduction, (nearly 25%) of Nitrogen Oxides (NOx), in vehicular emission. To achieve this stringent emission regulation requirement, Maruti Suzuki has upgraded engine hardware and software with technological advancement of the exhaust system. The stringent emission requirement is ensured with extensive and rigorous field tests in actual Indian driving conditions. Meeting the End of Life Vehicles (ELV) obligations, the New Alto is over 95% recoverable and 85% recyclable.
The new Alto facelift features a newly designed bumper and side fenders along with a new grille and redesigned headlamps. Inside the car gets dual tone interiors and seats along with new dashboard design and stylish yet functional speedometers. The hatchback also receives front and rear bottle holders.
Maruti Suzuki has also added a new infotainment system called Smart Play Dock to the new Alto. Customers can enjoy music on the Smart Play Dock with Bluetooth. The Smart Play Dock in the New Alto transforms customer’s phone into a touch interface to access calls, music, navigation and more. Customer can also experience the convenience of keyless entry.
