All-New BMW X2 and the first-ever BMW iX2 introduced

The BMW X2 pioneered the Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) concept in the premium compact segment. Now, its second-generation model steps onto the scene, offering even greater distinctiveness, sportiness, and forward-thinking design. With significantly expanded dimensions and a pronounced coupe silhouette, the new BMW X2’s exterior design unmistakably highlights the evolutionary leap it has taken. This progressive spirit is also reflected in the fully electric BMW iX2 variant, a wide range of automated driving and parking systems, and the innovative digital services provided by the new BMW iDrive featuring QuickSelect and BMW Operating System 9.

The global market rollout is set to commence in March 2024, starting with the all-electric BMW iX2 xDrive30 and the high-performance BMW X2 M35i xDrive model, along with one petrol and one diesel option. By summer 2024, a second fully electric variant and another diesel model will be introduced to expand the lineup.

The new BMW X2 and BMW iX2 will be manufactured felxibily on a shared assembly line at the BMW Group Plant Regensburg. The high-voltage batteries required for the fully electric model are also produced at the Regensburg facility. The introduction of the BMW iX2 signifies the BMW Group’s ongoing commitment to expediting the transition to electric mobility. Furthermore, the compact Sports Activity Coupe’s premium character is enhanced by significant progress in sustainability, which covers the entire lifecycle of the vehicle – from eco-conscious production to usage and eventual recycling.

Exterior Design: An Authentic Sports Activity Coupe with Dynamic Lines and Strong Presence.

The new BMW X2 boasts a distinctive and visually captivating design that sets it apart from the brand’s compact Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), the BMW X1. It is readily recognizable as a true Sports Activity Coupe (SAC). The new model is characterized by its dynamically extended lines and generous surface detailing. The new BMW X2 boasts a model-specific front end that exudes confidence and a commanding presence. It features distinctive LED headlights and a nearly hexagonal BMW kidney grille, which is a first in the premium compact segment and can be optionally equipped with BMW Iconic Glow contour lighting. Additionally, Adaptive LED Headlights with a non-dazzling matrix high beam are available as an option.

The roofline flows seamlessly into the rear, creating a sleek, coupe-like silhouette in the classic style of a BMW Sports Activity Coupe (SAC). At the rear, the flared wheel arches and muscular shoulders take center stage. The horizontal lines of the rear light design unique to this model add to the sporty character, as does a Gurney-style spoiler and an eye-catching rear apron.

For the BMW X2 M35i xDrive, there are M-specific design elements such as two sets of integrated exhaust tailpipes in the rear apron, which give it a particularly dynamic appearance. An M Sport package is available for all other model variants, including the new BMW iX2, offering aerodynamically optimized exterior details. The M Sport package Pro, an optional upgrade, includes extended M High-gloss Shadowline exterior trim, M lights Shadowline, an M rear spoiler, and an M Sport braking system with red-painted calipers, among other features.

BMW iX2: Compact SAC Redefining Premium Electric Mobility.

The new SAC line-up includes an all-electric addition in the form of the BMW iX2 xDrive30 from the very beginning. This variant features two tightly integrated drive units, one positioned at the front axle and one at the rear, which collectively produce a system output of 230 kW/313 hp (including temporary boost) and a system torque of 494 Nm (364 lb-ft). The iX2 xDrive30 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in a brisk 5.6 seconds, reaching a top speed of 180 km/h (112 mph). Thanks to the impressive 64.8 kWh usable energy in the high-voltage battery and the drive system’s high efficiency, it achieves a remarkable range of 417 to 449 kilometers (259 to 279 miles) in the WLTP cycle.

The exceptional range figures are further supported by adaptive recuperation and the MAX RANGE function. The latest iteration of the Max Performance Charging software is primarily designed to enhance charging efficiency. Moreover, the fully electric SAC is equipped to take advantage of the Plug & Charge Multi Contract function. For those seeking optimized home charging, the new Connected Home Charging Package, tailored for load- and solar-optimized home charging, is also available for the BMW iX2.
