Kia EV9 Electric Pickup Truck imagined in a digital render

Kia plans to launch at least two new battery-electric models (BEVs) every year with a goal to expand the line-up to 14 BEVs by 2027. Among these will be new electric pickup trucks which the company plans to introduce by 2026.

Two electric pickup trucks will be launched by Kia, one for developed markets and one for emerging markets. Despite the lack of concrete details, if rumours are true, the new pickup truck for developed markets such as the USA may be based on the Kia EV9 architecture.

This model will be in competition with the likes of Ford F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T, GMC Hummer EV Pickup, Chevrolet Silverado EV and the Ram 1500 Revolution EV truck. In future we will also see Toyota and Tesla entering into this segment.

It will be a few years before Kia’s electric pickup trucks become public, but here is one of the SRK Designs’ digital interpretations about how the EV9 Pickup truck concept might look if ever developed.

This video shows how the artist used the Kia EV9 Concept as the base and made changes starting from the rear door, eliminating the extra seating space and converting it into a cargo bed. A bit more length has been added to the wheelbase as well. Some redesigning can be seen on the front section but otherwise it looks similar to the SUV concept showcased earlier.

Recently, there have been some new about a Kia Mohave based pickup truck being tested. However it has to be seen if this model which will be powered by an internal combustion engine or if the company will equip it with an electric powertrain.
