New 2023 Range Rover Sport Unveiled

New Range Rover Sport redefines sporting luxury, effortlessly combining assertive and instinctive on-road performance with trademark Range Rover refinement, progressive design sophistication and connected convenience. The third-generation model is the most desirable, advanced and dynamically capable yet.

A suite of powerful and efficient powertrains includes six-cylinder extended range Electric Hybrid, a potent new V8 and mild hybrid six-cylinder petrol and diesel Ingenium engines. Pure-electric propulsion will be introduced in 2024, as Land Rover continues its electrification journey.

New Range Rover Sport is available in, SE, HSE and Autobiography specifications, with a First Edition available throughout the first year of production featuring a specially curated specification.

Design in detail

The sophisticated exterior is unmistakably Range Rover Sport with taut surfacing, a dynamic stance and instantly recognisable profile, perfectly accentuated by stealth-like detailing and muscular proportions – giving the impression the vehicle is poised and ready.

Dramatic proportions accentuate the Range Rover Sport’s distinctive character, with short overhangs, an assertive front-end and steeply raked glazing at the front and back. These trademark elements provide a strong and imposing road presence that communicate power and performance.

The sculpted exterior is detailed with exquisite finishes such as a stealth-like front grille and Digital LED lighting units, which create a distinctive Daytime Running Light (DRL) signature. The eye-catching designs, the slimmest ever fitted to a Land Rover, sit above a sculpted, double-aperture lower bumper that incorporates a horizontal bisecting body-colour element that creates greater visual width, enhanced by black detailing.

Perfectly honed design elements are echoed at the rear, incorporating a sculpted tailgate with a full-width feature bearing the Range Rover script. Uninterrupted LED light graphics introduce surface LED technology to a production vehicle for the first time, providing a crisp and contemporary look at night that is vivid and consistent when viewed from any angle. A characteristic shoulder line runs the length of the vehicle, accentuated by new lower fender details and the longest spoiler ever fitted to a Range Rover.

The clean lines of the exterior are enhanced by beautifully executed flush glazing and door handles, a hidden waist rail finisher and laser-welded roof for a precise, technical and sophisticated appearance. These design-enabling technologies contribute to excellent aerodynamic performance, with New Range Rover Sport delivering a drag coefficient of just 0.29.

The new Dynamic model brings an even sharper focus to the performance SUV’s purposeful character with unique exterior design elements. Satin Grey alloy wheels are joined by Satin Burnished Copper finishes for the bonnet louvres and side ingots while the front grille and Range Rover lettering are finished in Matte Graphite Atlas.

With unique front and rear bumpers and bespoke lower cladding finished in body colour, the Dynamic delivers the most dramatic interpretation of the Range Rover Sport formula.

New Range Rover Sport’s reductive design extends to its all-new interior, which features the trademark Range Rover Command Driving Position, the latest technologies and the finest materials, which combine for a compelling balance of sartorial elegance and visceral desire. The cockpit-like cabin sets the tone for the dynamic driving experience, providing excellent visibility while simultaneously cocooning the driver with a high, sloping centre console and intuitive technologies.

Innovative and sustainable material choices include tactile and lightweight Ultrafabrics premium textiles finished in attractive new Duo Tone colourways, while a unique textile option that extends to the dashboard and door detailing is also available. Alternatives include luxurious grained, Windsor or soft Semi-Aniline leather options.

These tactile materials seamlessly blend with new Moonlight Chrome interior finishers while elements like the integrated audio speakers, developed with Meridian and hidden behind the textile of the rear doors, contribute to the clean, crisp and modern aesthetic.

Engaging on every journey

New Range Rover Sport introduces more advanced chassis technologies than ever before, providing a comprehensive dynamic toolkit for the most engaging and dynamically capable driving experience.

The inherent stiffness and strength of the flexible mixed-metal architecture (MLA-Flex) – which provides up to 35 per cent higher torsional stiffness than the previous Range Rover Sport – lays the foundations for this technology. It harmoniously works with a suite of systems governed by the Integrated Chassis Control system – all specially tuned for New Range Rover Sport.

New Dynamic Response Pro works hand-in-hand with the latest generation Dynamic Air Suspension, which introduces switchable-volume air springs for the first time.

Dynamic Response Pro provides ultimate roll control via a 48-volt electronic active roll control system, capable of applying up to 1,400Nm of torque across each axle, for a confidence-inspiring driving experience and new levels of body control and cornering composure.

Dynamic Air Suspension is fitted to every New Range Rover Sport and the intelligent system enhances the bandwidth of the suspension. This works by varying the pressure within the chambers (higher pressure provides stiffer damping) to deliver traditional Range Rover comfort with the dynamic handling expected from the Range Rover Sport. To optimise responses, the vehicle monitors the road ahead using eHorizon navigation data to pre-emptively prime for upcoming bends.

Adaptive Dynamics 2 technology contributes to dynamic capability by continuously controlling the Active Twin Valve Dampers to reduce unwanted body movements. It monitors external factors up to 500 times per second to deliver the perfect responses and, in harmony with the other chassis technologies, delivers the most precise and composed driving dynamics of any Range Rover Sport.

New Range Rover Sport’s cornering agility is taken to a new level with All-Wheel Steering, Torque Vectoring by Braking and the Electronic Active Differential. All-Wheel Steering provides rear-wheel steering of up to 7.3 degrees out of phase with the front wheels to achieve enhanced agility and manoeuvrability at low speeds, while turning in-phase for superior stability at high speeds. This gives New Range Rover Sport the turning circle of a hatchback and on-road agility of a much smaller car.

The very best of the New Range Rover Sport’s chassis systems combine in the Stormer Handling Pack, which includes Dynamic Response Pro, All-Wheel Steering, the Electronic Active Differential with Torque Vectoring by Braking and Configurable Programs. The latter provides the opportunity to personalise the driving modes, tailoring the driving experience both on and off road. All elements of this pack are standard on P510e Electric Hybrid and P530 powertrains.

All New Range Rover Sport models are fitted with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission and Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, which intuitively anticipates where traction is required, efficiently engaging to provide the most effective progress in all conditions, while optimising efficiency.

Enhancing the off-road performance is Land Rover’s latest Terrain Response 2 system, which intelligently applies the most appropriate settings for the terrain. New Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control makes its debut on New Range Rover Sport and helps drivers navigate tricky terrain by maintaining steady progress according to the ground conditions. Drivers can select one of four comfort settings and the system intelligently adjusts the speed accordingly, allowing the driver to focus on steering.

Epitome of sporting luxury

New Range Rover Sport makes every journey an event. It can be honed to be as dynamically engaging as the driver desires, while offering enhanced levels of refinement and comfort. This ability to combine dual characters, offering heightened luxury and driver-focused engagement, is made possible by a comprehensive set of technologies and features.

Providing the perfect foundation for an engaging and supportive journey are 22-way adjustable, heated and ventilated electric memory front seats with massage function and winged headrests. The flagship seats provide the ultimate support for longer journeys and involving drives on winding roads, while rear passengers benefit from ergonomically optimised seat geometry, with a 31mm increase in legroom and 20mm greater knee clearance, for greater comfort and support.

Next-generation Cabin Air Purification Pro is available to create and maintain the perfect driving environment. It combines PM2.5 filtration and nanoeTM X technology to significantly reduce odours, bacteria and allergens, including the SARS-CoV-2 virus. A second nanoeTM X device is fitted to the second row to provide consistent air quality throughout the cabin. An advanced CO2 Management function allows owners to purify the cabin before a journey, or while they are driving – ensuring increased alertness for every drive, and enhanced wellbeing for all occupants.

Powerful Meridian audio options are available, and the Meridian Signature Sound System is the most advanced and powerful audio system ever fitted to a Range Rover Sport. It presents an enveloping sound experience using 29 speakers, a new subwoofer and up to 1,430W of amplifier power – including four headrest speakers that enable those travelling in the four main seats of the vehicle to experience personal sound zones.

Next generation Active Noise Cancellation plays its part here, reducing the effect of road and tyre noise entering the cabin for ultimate cabin refinement or to allow occupants to enjoy the undiluted soundtrack provided by New Range Rover Sport’s powertrain. This experience is heightened when the vehicle is in the Dynamic driving mode, when the advanced system brings the engine sounds to the fore. In normal driving, microphones and accelerometers inside each wheel arch constantly monitor the sounds passing into the vehicle, while digital processors calculate the level of noise-cancelling sound required to filter this from the cabin – much like a pair of high-end headphones.

Instinctive convenience contributes to the sense of modern luxury and New Range Rover features Deployable Door Handles with Proximity Sensing, Soft Door Close and Approach Unlock, for effortless entry to the vehicle while preserving the clean lines of the exterior. Automated Walkaway Lock ensures security is guaranteed.

Seamless technology

Land Rover’s powerful Electrical Vehicle Architecture (EVA 2.0) supports an ecosystem of seamless connected technologies, including Software Over The Air (SOTA). The clever technology provides remote updates for 63 electronic modules, ensuring New Range Rover Sport remains at the cutting edge of innovation, modern technology and services throughout its life.

The award-winning Pivi Pro infotainment features a high resolution floating 13.1-inch curved touchscreen positioned at the centre of the modernist dashboard. Controlling everything from navigation to media and vehicle settings, it learns the user’s habits and intelligently personalises the onboard experience, becoming a truly intuitive personal assistant.

Pivi Pro features an easy-to-use interface with a home screen that can be personalised to include most frequently used functions, while the majority of features are accessed within just two taps of the main screen. Haptic feedback enhances the system by providing positive feedback to the operator’s inputs, reducing the need for the driver to take their eyes off the road to confirm their selection. The Pivi Pro screen is complemented by a 13.7-inch Interactive Driver Display, with high-definition graphics that echo the main Pivi system, and a reconfigurable layout so drivers can see the information that’s most important to them.

Amazon Alexa brings a new level of convenience, providing the ability to control various settings and features using natural voice commands while reducing the potential for distraction. Alexa is embedded in Pivi Pro and can simply be activated by saying “Alexa” or tapping the Alexa button on the touchscreen. The clever voice AI even integrates the use of Alexa devices in the home via the Land Rover smartphone app.

Alexa works without a smartphone – all owners need to do is log in via their Amazon account for the vehicle’s built-in eSIMs to provide connectivity. Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Wireless Android Auto™ are both fitted as standard, meaning smartphones can be tucked out of the way on the dedicated 15W Wireless Device Charger, beneath the Pivi screen, without the need for trailing wires.

New Range Rover Sport’s dynamic performance and enhanced refinement is supported by the latest safety-focused Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). All models are fitted with Emergency Braking, 3D Surround Camera, including front and rear parking sensors, Wade Sensing, ClearSight Ground View and Manoeuvring Lights – Cruise Control, Driver Condition Monitor, Lane Keep Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition.

Electrified performance

A comprehensive line-up of electrified powertrains deliver customary Range Rover Sport performance. The range includes an extended range Electric Hybrid, six-cylinder Ingenium petrols and diesels using mild-hybrid technology, and an all-new V8 Twin Turbo. In 2024, the New Range Rover Sport line-up will evolve with the addition of a fully electric model.

The new P510e Electric Hybrid is engineered to meet the demands of drivers looking for a high-performance drive, impressive efficiency and more than 125km of zero emissions EV range. It seamlessly blends Land Rover’s 3.0-litre six-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine with a powerful 105kW electric motor and 38.2kWh battery, producing a total system output of 375kW (510PS).

It is capable of 0-100km/h in just 5.4 seconds, an electric driving range of up to 125km – enough for most owners to complete up to 75 per cent of journeys on electric power – and CO2 emissions of just 37g/km.

Alternatively, the new flagship V8 Twin Turbo, produces 390kW (530PS) for the most exhilarating Range Rover Sport character, accelerating from 0-100km/h in just 4.5 seconds with Dynamic Launch engaged and bringing an added level of visceral excitement to the line-up.

The comprehensive choice of powertrains includes six-cylinder D250, D300 and D350 mild-hybrid diesel engines and powerful P360 and P400 mild-hybrid straight six Ingenium petrols.

Peerless capability

New Range Rover Sport is the most dynamically capable version of Land Rover’s luxury performance SUV ever, and the most competent away from paved roads. It is the first Land Rover to feature this capability, bringing enhanced off-road performance to the line-up by allowing the driver to focus solely on steering the vehicle across challenging terrain.

Terrain Response 2® automatically detects the surface and terrain to adapt the chassis to best deal with the situation, prompting and informing the driver via the Pivi Pro touchscreen. It works in harmony with the comprehensive chassis systems to make the most effective progress off-road.

Exterior design

New Range Rover Sport continues the Range Rover’s reductive design philosophy with clean lines and taut surfaces. Its imposing presence and assertive, muscular stance are enhanced by stealth-like headlights and grille which amplify the car’s dynamic character.

Dramatic proportions and an unmistakable Range Rover Sport silhouette are free from superfluous detailing. In profile, its floating, raked roofline, rising waistline with hidden waist-rail finisher and 23-inch alloy wheels are emphasised by clean surfacing, flush glazing and flush door handles.

With its deep body sides and shallow glazing, exemplified by the new Dynamic model with its deeper body-coloured lower cladding, it draws the eye down towards the road.

The shorter front overhang gives the New Range Rover Sport enhanced presence. The slim grille and headlights seamlessly sweep round the front corners, blending into the muscular wheel arches in a refined interpretation of the Range Rover Sport’s purposeful stance.

The headlights feature precise detailing and the latest LED technology. Range Rover Sport’s daytime running light signature delivers a distinct graphic with crystal-like light, complemented by subtle black headlight surrounds – another example of precision detailing and technological innovation.

The lower front grille treatment features a double aperture, bisected by a horizontal body-colour element which creates visual width. This, combined with the front-end design, creates a sense of dynamism and purpose.

The rear end design provides a truly distinctive twist on Range Rover Sport’s DNA, while retaining a strong family resemblance. The prominent shoulder line leads to the rear elevation and meets the slimline taillights, with an integrated rear quarter panel that seamlessly connects with the flush glazing.

The rear glass features a taut angle for added dynamism and is framed by the falling roofline, rising waistline and the rear spoiler.

A full-width graphic incorporates the Range Rover script, between the slim horizontal rear light units. These feature new surface LED lights to provide a new level of illumination, ensuring the highest quality of consistent light when viewed from any angle – while mirroring the front light graphic in its simplicity and precision.

The rear numberplate sits in a low and wide surface area beneath the single-piece tailgate, drawing the eye to the lower corners of the vehicle – visually lowering the car and planting it to the ground. The diffuser beneath features a blade element, which frames the lower details and complements the exhaust outlets.

The Dynamic model features Satin Burnished Copper bonnet and side fender details for added distinction, complemented by body-coloured elements that provide greater depth to the body sides. Unique front and rear bumper detailing provides a sporting emphasis. Dynamic models are also defined by Matte Graphite Atlas lettering and Satin Grey finish to the alloy wheels.

Interior design

The latest Range Rover Sport promotes luxury and refinement with impeccable taste. This is bolstered by a dynamic cockpit-like driving position that instils confidence and sets the tone for the most sporting Range Rover, while harmoniously echoing the assertive nature of the exterior.

The cabin provides a cocooning and welcoming environment, enhanced by the smaller steering wheel, contoured seats and rising waistline. The Command Driving Position provides excellent all-round visibility, inspiring confidence and enabling the driver to place New Range Rover Sport perfectly both on and off road.

The interior has an architectural lightness that effortlessly fuses modernist design with sophisticated detailing and precise controls, impeccably crafted from the finest materials.

Technology has been elegantly integrated with the floating 13.1-inch Pivi Pro screen centrally located on the slimline mid-roll section of the dashboard.

The infotainment touchscreen is met by the angled centre console that sweeps beneath the lower edge of the floating screen, driving the eye forward and accentuating the engaging driving position. This dynamic design ensures core vehicle controls are close at hand, while providing enhanced storage within and beneath the centre console.

The uninterrupted surfacing of the clean interfaces on the centre console contribute to its technical, precise impression. The floating central touchscreen and instrument cluster are complemented by tactile heating and ventilation controls that feature hidden-until-lit technology, providing a clean surface at all times. Dynamic personality

The Command Driving Position is part of Range Rover’s DNA, providing peerless visibility and complete confidence when judging the vehicle’s dimensions. New front window panels and slim pillars provide an improved view out to the front and side, balancing the familiar Range Rover Command Driving Position with a cockpit-like seating position. This is achieved by a 20mm drop in driving position compared with New Range Rover, a higher, angled centre console, a faster rake to the windscreen and a sloping roofline. A smaller diameter steering wheel gives a more sporting feel.

The sense of engagement is enhanced by the availability of 22-way adjustable, heated and ventilated electric memory front seats with massage function and winged headrests. They provide all the support required during dynamic driving, while delivering effortless comfort on longer trips. This extends to the rear cabin, where heated and ventilated seats with power recline and winged headrests are available. The seat base angle provides enhanced support with more legroom than before – improving comfort and support in all types of driving.

Pure air: enhanced wellbeing

New Range Rover Sport is available with Cabin Air Purification Pro with PM2.5 Filtration and nanoeTM X technology for the healthiest and purest quality cabin air. The advanced air filtration systems work in harmony to significantly reduce odours, bacteria and allergens, including the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

The advanced technology is active in the air, condensing moisture from cabin air and breaking it into electrically charged particles. This creates a high voltage that produces Hydroxyl (OH) radicals in nano-sized water molecules, which react with contaminants in the air. Over 30 minutes of usage, the system is 97 per cent effective in eliminating viruses, bacteria and pollutants, independently tested in laboratory conditions. In another independent test, nanoeTM X technology has shown more than 99 per cent elimination against Covid-19. A second nanoe TM X device for the rear cabin ensures the system is effective for all occupants.

Air quality can be constantly monitored for consistent and enhanced occupant wellbeing via the CO2 Management function, with an intuitive display showing the air quality levels inside and outside the vehicle. The cabin air can be cleansed before a journey with the Purify function, which can also be used on the move to neutralise any pathogens that have been introduced to the cabin, complementing the standard climate control by continuously purifying the air at the touch of a button.

Not only does the Cabin Air Purification Pro System contribute to the wellbeing and health of occupants, the purer air inside the vehicle also enhances concentration and alertness for a heightened driving experience. This is achieved by introducing fresh air when required after constant monitoring of carbon dioxide levels inside the vehicle.

Active Noise Cancellation

The baseline refinement delivered by the flexible MLA architecture is augmented by next-generation Active Noise Cancellation technology. It allows customers to enjoy undiluted sounds from the powertrain by filtering out unwanted road and tyre noise. In this way, the system enhances refinement, allowing occupants to easily hold conversations, listen to media or simply enjoy the soundtrack of the powertrain.

Active Noise Cancellation is an integral feature of the new flagship Meridian Signature Sound System and uses individual single-axis accelerometers to measure structure-born noise, with microphones that measure airborne noise located in each wheel arch. These monitor sound and modulate the Active Noise Cancellation to continuously and instantaneously generate a cancelling signal played through the system’s 29 cabin speakers, to actively remove additional road noise frequencies of up to 1kHz before they reach cabin occupants. In this way the system operates faster than the speed of sound – detecting and masking unwanted sounds before they reach the ears of occupants.

The cabin speakers, which include a pair of speakers in the headrests of each of the four main seating positions, work in a similar way to high-end headphones. They cancel out the widest possible range of frequencies detected by the accelerometers and microphones to create ‘quiet zones’ for each individual, helping make New Range Rover Sport three decibels quieter inside than its predecessor.

The system allows more of the sound from New Range Rover Sport’s powertrains to come through during dynamic driving. Controlled via a central Audio Domain Controller, it responds to the selected driving mode to optimise the acoustic experience and provide a greater sensory connection for the driver.

Selecting Dynamic mode raises the level of the authentic powertrain sounds reaching the cabin. This brings a new level of duality to the driving experience, providing customary Range Rover quiet in Comfort mode and an even more thrilling and rewarding drive when Dynamic mode is activated.

Advanced Meridian Audio

Customers can choose from a range of Meridian sound systems, led by the new Meridian Signature Sound System. Delivering the highest quality and purest sound experience, its high-fidelity audio playback uses up to 29 speakers – including a subwoofer – with 1,430W of amplifier power capable of creating personal sound environments for each of the four main occupants. This is delivered through speakers positioned to the front, side, above and behind each occupant, plus a 20W digital amplifier in each outer headrest.

One of the finest and most powerful in-car audio experiences in the world is made possible by 10 separate Digital Signal Processors (DSPs), with five times the processing power of the previous generation sound system.

New speaker enclosures provide a premium appearance and form an integral part of the door using the same specially developed acoustic textile, like a high-end home speaker system, while also enhancing sound transmission. The new arrangement allows consistent, controlled and distortion-free audio playback that is pure, from music and podcasts to infotainment sounds.

Each Meridian sound system available is a high-performance masterpiece, with upgraded digital amplifiers and a new centre channel speaker to provide a true-to-life listening experience.

Additional Meridian systems include:

  • Meridian Sound System – 15 speakers, one subwoofer and 400W of amplifier power.
  • Meridian 3D Surround Sound System – 19 speakers (including subwoofer) and 800W of amplifier power. An evolution of the previous system, it now includes speakers integrated into the headlining, bringing an enhanced and more realistic listening experience.

Flexible MLA architecture

Land Rover’s flexible MLA platform brings a new level of structural rigidity and refinement, providing the perfect foundations for a refined luxury performance SUV. The experience is enhanced by additional technologies, including Active Noise Cancellation, taking the cabin refinement to new heights.

Torsional stiffness is improved by up to 35 per cent over the previous Range Rover Sport, which provides significant benefits in refinement and dynamic performance, assisted by new construction and assembly techniques.

Comfort and convenience by design

New Range Rover Sport features a host of new convenience features enabled by its reductive design, while also providing an enhanced sense of modern luxury.

This is delivered by intuitive details that make life easier for owners, including Flush Deployable Door Handles that glide out automatically when the vehicle is unlocked. With Proximity Sensing, Approach Unlock detects the key on a given side of the vehicle and unlocks and presents the door handles for quick and easy access, while Walkaway Locking automatically locks the vehicle when the smart key departs the detection zone. Elegant Arrival automatically lowers the body height using the air suspension to make getting in and out effortless.

Before even embarking on a journey, Remote Park Heat with Cabin Pre-Conditioning enables customers to prime the vehicle by setting the perfect cabin temperature without getting in.

When they do, customers will be greeted by a warm white glow from the Premium Cabin Lighting. This is one of 30 colours available to choose from for the illumination of the doors, console and instrument panel. Once the engine is started, the warm white transitions to the last chosen colour setting.

To personalise the interior environment further, a selection of pre-set colour themes is available via the Pivi Pro system, with preferences available for the colourway in four intensity levels across two zones of the interior.

Practical cabin, stowage and loadspace

The enhanced packaging afforded by the flexible MLA architecture ensures New Range Rover Sport’s cabin is more spacious than ever, with more room for passengers and their luggage.

True Range Rover Sport comfort is delivered in the second row, with a stadium rise of 11mm over the front seats, a heel drop 9mm lower than the previous Range Rover Sport and improved legroom (+31mm) and kneeroom (+17mm). The angle of the seat base ensures a supportive and comfortable posture on longer journeys.

The luggage space is now a more usable shape, with enhanced access through the powered tailgate and new Loadspace Floor Partition that makes greater use of the space available, while providing added flexibility for owners. With the rear seats in place, the load area offers 835 litres of space up to the headlining, while lowering the rear seats using convenient buttons close to the tailgate expands the available space to 1,860 litres.

Small item stowage has been revolutionised with new, more usable and accessible spaces for oddment storage. This includes a covered stowage area with cupholders that can slide rearwards to reveal a deep stowage area beneath the main console, while a new open, under-console area is ideal to keep small items such as sunglasses or wallets within easy reach while driving. The dedicated 15W Wireless Device Charger beneath the Pivi Pro touchscreen is another example of a clever, dedicated storage area that is easy to access, providing a seamless technological interface for mobile devices.


New Range Rover Sport features a suite of technologies that enhance the driving experience, making this the most advanced, dynamically engaging and refined Range Rover Sport ever made.

Land Rover’s Electrical Vehicle Architecture (EVA 2.0) is the digital spine, supporting connectivity, Software Over The Air (SOTA) capability and advanced convenience features. With 63 Electronic Control Modules (ECUs) capable of updating over the air, New Range Rover Sport’s electronic ecosystem is constantly refreshed with the latest software.

Award-winning infotainment

The award-winning Pivi Pro infotainment is accessed via a curved 13.1-inch touchscreen with haptic controls. Like the New Range Rover, it is the largest touchscreen ever fitted to a Land Rover – with mounts engineered for optimum rigidity and strength – and its contemporary near-frameless design seamlessly ‘floats’ on the centre of the dashboard.

As soon as the vehicle is unlocked and driver’s door is opened, the Pivi Pro system is active and ready to go thanks to a built-in back-up battery, so drivers can set the navigation and stream music as soon as they get in.

Intuitive Pivi Pro allows 90 per cent of tasks to be completed within two taps of the home screen to minimise the potential for distraction and, in a first for Range Rover Sport, the central touchscreen incorporates haptic controls. By providing positive sensory feedback when interacting with the screen, it removes the need for drivers to take their eyes off the road for a second, confirmatory glance – offering a more focused and safer driving experience.

Like a host of other systems, Pivi Pro improves as the vehicle matures thanks to SOTA updates, which deliver the latest software upgrades wherever customers are, without interruption or inconvenience. This is possible thanks to two embedded eSIMs within the Pivi Pro infotainment, meaning updates can be completed without disrupting other applications such as music streaming.

Pivi Pro also learns and recognises habits, to make the infotainment as personalised and effortless as possible. For example, the navigation will identify regularly used routes – such as daily commutes – and set the destination accordingly, so the driver can take advantage of traffic updates along the route. Given the familiarity of the surroundings, it will intelligently reduce the number of voice instructions on such trips for an undisturbed journey.

Drivers can also interact with New Range Rover Sport by simply saying “Hey Land Rover”, which wakes the cloud-based voice assistant. It is more responsive than ever, allowing occupants to control functions such as navigation, media, climate and phone controls using natural speech in up to 31 languages. It can also be activated via the steering wheel button.

Interactive Driver Display

The digital experience is enhanced by the new 13.7-inch Interactive Driver Display, a semi-floating high-definition screen that uses an intuitive three-panel layout similar to the main Pivi Pro screen. Drivers can specify individual configurations for the display to personalise the information ahead of them, controlled via the new steering wheel controls.

Information can also be displayed via a high-resolution colour Head-Up Display, positioned directly in the driver’s eyeline to reduce the need to look away from the road. It displays key information – such as gear selection, up or downshift indicator and navigation instructions – as if two metres ahead of the driver. The display has been positioned to make it easier to read and reduce eye movements required by the driver.

Amazon Alexa

New Range Rover Sport features integrated Amazon Alexa for intuitive voice control that makes life even easier. The system understands natural voice commands and provides a seamless alternative to using the central touchscreen, reducing the cognitive load on the driver and boosting safety. It allows customers to manage and use infotainment features, navigation commands and make or receive phone calls without taking their hands off the steering wheel or eyes off the road.

The voice AI is embedded in the Pivi Pro system for ultimate convenience and can be prompted by simply asking questions such as: “Alexa, where’s the nearest coffee shop?”. This will produce a map of nearby results, allowing the driver to continue the dialogue to select a destination, or by simply tapping an option on the Pivi Pro screen.

Further examples of Alexa’s capabilities include navigating to or contacting a chosen destination and checking the news, weather and traffic using natural spoken commands. The system works in addition to the wireless smartphone connectivity options and can be activated by saying “Alexa” or by pressing the dedicated Alexa button on the central Pivi Pro touchscreen. It also works without the need for a smartphone – the built-in system just needs details of a customer’s Amazon account and the internet connection provided by the vehicle’s embedded eSIMs.

A custom connected vehicle skill for New Range Rover Sport enables drivers to remotely control functions in the home, such as switching on lights and setting the central heating thermostat.

Online Pack

The comprehensive Online Pack supports New Range Rover Sport’s connectivity, featuring an inclusive data plan that ensures customers are always connected. The system is bolstered by embedded eSIM technology, providing 4G data for the connected features such as the navigation, Wi-Fi hotspot and SOTA updates.

The apps within Pivi Pro are embedded and cloud-based, so a smartphone isn’t required to provide the internet connectivity or app functionality – meaning customers can stream music even if they forget their phone. The embedded Spotify app is accessed directly via the Pivi screen and allows access to favourite music playlists and podcasts directly with a Premium subscription.

The Online Pack also includes Amazon Alexa with unlimited streaming from Deezer and TuneIn, as well as live weather forecasts displayed on the touchscreen.

Effortless, wireless smartphone integration

Wireless Apple CarPlay® is standard on New Range Rover Sport, with added convenience provided by the 15W Wireless Device Charger. It is located below the Pivi screen in a subtle, dedicated compartment at the top of the centre console. While keeping devices safely stored out of sight – to minimise the potential for distraction – it allows remaining stowage areas to be used for other items and is large enough to accommodate the largest smartphones.

The Qi-compatible device pad also features active cooling to prevent smartphones from overheating. Wireless Android Auto™ is also standard.

Passengers can also stay connected with up to seven USB-C connections available across the two rows of seats inside, with the ability to charge laptops, as well as the option of a 230V domestic plug socket. In addition, there are 12V charging sockets in the glove compartment and in the end of the centre console, accessed via the rear cabin.

Rear Seat Entertainment

Rear passengers can enjoy the Rear Seat Entertainment option, displayed on two 11.4-inch touchscreens. Featuring curved glass screens like the main Pivi Pro touchscreen, the displays are elegantly integrated to the rear of the front seats, providing an intuitive interface and High-Definition viewing.

Working with the optional Wi-Fi Hotspot with Data Plan, the rear-seat passengers can stream their favourite entertainment connected via HDMI or USB port, acting like an extension of at-home viewing, with individuals able to watch separate things on each screen.

Digital LED Headlights with Predictive Front Lighting and Dynamic Light Projection

New Range Rover Sport features slim LED headlights with a distinctive new Daytime Running Light (DRL) signature that embodies the overall design of the luxury performance SUV. Efficient and powerful LED lighting is used throughout, and the stealth-like headlights also feature Adaptive Front Lighting and Image Projection technology.

The new Adaptive Front Lighting system uses high-performance Dynamic Light Projection technology to optimise the dipped beam and shape its pattern to suit the driving conditions, precisely illuminating the road ahead around 10 times more effectively than before.

Inside each headlight, 1.3 million individually controllable Digital Micro-mirror Devices (DMDs) allow the HD-Adaptive Driving Beam to respond to the road ahead and shadow up to 16 objects ahead of the vehicle, to avoid dazzling oncoming road users. The system is intelligent enough to recognise signposts and dims the beam to reduce reflection glare, while at junctions and roundabouts it will increase the beam width to enhance visibility and illuminate pedestrians and cyclists at the roadside.

Using eHorizon navigation data, the lights can ‘see’ the road ahead to automatically set the correct beam pattern from one of four modes:

  • Country – standard beam operates between 0-110km/h when an urban environment is not detected
  • City – wider headlight beam operates up to 48km/h in urban environments
  • Highway – raised headlight beam operates above 110km/h
  • Adverse Weather – operates when the windscreen wipers are active for more than two minutes and the vehicle’s speed is below 64km/h

At the rear, new slimline taillights feature surface LED technology for the first time on Range Rover Sport. The crisp and vibrant red lighting signature is consistent from all viewing angles, using super red LED technology for an uninterrupted, crisp, and dynamic rear light signature.

New Manoeuvring Lights assist the 3D Surround Camera system to aid parking and low speed manoeuvres in low light conditions using LED downlighters on the side of the vehicle which project onto the ground. The advanced system provides a carpet of light around the vehicle, illuminating the surroundings both to the eye and when viewed through the vehicle’s cameras on the central touchscreen.

The system is automatically engaged when reverse gear is selected, working with the 3D Surround Camera to provide peerless visibility at up to 15km/h, in addition to the LED reversing lights. The 3D Surround Camera provides 360-degree plan, 3D exterior perspective or kerb views and junction views by cleverly stitching together images from the four surround cameras, helping drivers at speeds below 15km/h on any terrain.

New Range Rover Sport is also available with ClearSight Interior Rear View technology. The frameless interior mirror changes at the touch of a button from a conventional rear-view mirror to a digital screen showing a feed from the high-definition rear-facing camera mounted high at the back of the vehicle.

It provides a 50-degree horizontal view and 9.8-degree vertical field of vision to the rear of the vehicle with no blind spots, enhancing the view out in low light and when carrying bulky objects. A hydrophobic coating ensures the view is not impeded by wet and muddy conditions.

At the front, ClearSight Ground View transparent bonnet technology enhances off-road driving by visualising the area hidden by the bonnet on the central Pivi Pro touchscreen. Trajectory overlays help drivers clearly position the vehicle on challenging terrain, and the system is capable of making the vehicle ‘disappear’, providing a plan view of the area around and beneath the vehicle.

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems

New Range Rover Sport’s dynamic performance and enhanced refinement is supported by the latest safety-focused Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). All models are fitted with Emergency Braking, 3D Surround Camera, including front and rear parking sensors, Wade Sensing, ClearSight Ground View and Manoeuvring Lights – Cruise Control, Driver Condition Monitor, Lane Keep Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition.

Additional standard features:

  • Driver Assist Pack – Adaptive Cruise Control with Steering Assist, Driver Condition Response, Rear Collision Monitor and Occupant Protection Assist
  • Blind Spot Assist Pack – Blind Spot Assist and Rear Traffic Monitor

Adaptive Cruise Control with Steering Assist and Driver Condition Response are both included in the Driver Assist Pack. Adaptive Cruise Control with Steering Assist maintains a constant speed and will safely adapt to the speed of vehicles ahead by maintaining a set following distance. It will also help the driver keep the vehicle centred in the lane.

The system remains active in traffic, with the Stop & Go functionality bringing the vehicle to a stop and moving off again with the traffic flow without the need to touch the pedals – for an effortless drive. Additionally, lane changes can be completed with Lane Merge Assist. Activated using the indicators, the system assesses the conditions in the desired lane and accelerates or decelerates as necessary for a smooth change.

Speed Assist is also part of the Driver Assist Pack, aiding the driver by dynamically adjusting the vehicle speed based on the prevailing speed limit.

Driver Condition Response is activated when the vehicle determines that the driver is unresponsive following prolonged warnings from the vehicle. After a series of audible and visual warnings, New Range Rover Sport will initiate three brake pulses, after which – if the driver is still unresponsive – it will bring the vehicle to a full stop in its lane with hazard lights activated to warn other road users.

Additional protection at the rear of the vehicle is provided by Rear Collision Monitor and Occupant Protection Assist, which uses rear corner radars to identify potential collision risks – sounding an audible warning and preparing the cabin for a potential impact. If required, the hazard lights will flash, and the interior is primed by tensioning the seat belts, moving the head rests forwards, inclining the seats and closing the windows – as well as closing the panoramic roof.

Remote Park Assist is available for the first time on Range Rover Sport, enabling owners to conveniently control their vehicle from the outside. Using the Land Rover smartphone app, drivers can park in tight spaces, guide the vehicle through rural gateways or exit tight parking spaces.

Activated via the Pivi Pro screen, drivers can then select available spaces that the system has identified, with narrower spaces highlighted as only accessible using Remote Park Assist. The manoeuvre can then be completed once the driver exits the vehicle, by providing a continuous input via the Remote app. The driver must stay within three metres of the vehicle, with ultrasonic sensors and cameras constantly monitoring the surroundings for potential hazards. If these conditions are not met, the vehicle will come to a stop.

When drivers are behind the wheel, Park Assist will automatically park New Range Rover Sport in parallel or bay spaces. The system constantly scans for available spaces and drivers can select the desired parking option using the central touchscreen. Once initiated, the intelligent technology makes all the necessary steering and throttle adjustments to park the vehicle quickly and effortlessly.


New Range Rover Sport is the most dynamic ever produced, combining a range of powerful and responsive powertrains with sophisticated and technology-rich chassis systems to provide new levels of driver engagement and agility – all with customary Range Rover refinement.

The advanced, MLA-Flex body architecture provides the perfect basis – a toolkit of hardware, software, design and manufacturing processes that underpins the New Range Rover Sport’s dynamic handling and refinement. The latest Integrated Chassis Control system builds on these foundations and governs the advanced chassis technologies that deliver the same elevated level of control, composure and dynamic ability, regardless of the powertrain or specification.

New Range Rover Sport’s chassis advancements are headlined by the Stormer Handling Pack that delivers a dynamic, responsive and composed drive at all times thanks to its state-of-the-art chassis control technologies. On top of Dynamic Air Suspension with new switchable volume air springs – a Land Rover first and standard on all New Range Rover Sports, it comprises Dynamic Response Pro with an electronic Active Roll Control system, All-Wheel Steering, an Electronic Active Differential with Torque Vectoring by Braking and Configurable Programs.

The features of the Stormer Handling Pack are available in addition to the latest generation Adaptive Dynamics system with active Twin Valve Dampers and Land Rover’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system. All technologies combine for immense capability and engagement across any terrain, setting the standard for performance SUVs.

Flexible Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA-Flex)

MLA provides the fundamental underpinnings for the Range Rover Sport driving experience. The new body architecture is structurally the stiffest in Land Rover’s history – with a static torsional stiffness of 33kNm/deg – up to 35 per cent stiffer than before. It provides the foundations for the latest chassis technologies and suspension developments to work from, contributing to New Range Rover Sport’s unique combination of dynamic capability and refinement.

The latest generation of Land Rover’s Integrated Chassis Control system governs the technologies that make this possible. The centrally operated system features a single electronic module that controls the performance SUV’s chassis systems for a truly harmonious and responsive drive.

These systems include Dynamic Air Suspension, which features switchable volume air springs for the first time to provide ultimate comfort and control. It is complemented by Dynamic Response Pro, underpinned by an electronic active roll control system to distribute torque across each axle for composure and supreme body control.

All-Wheel Steering is standard on the powerful P510e Electric Hybrid and P530 powertrains, offering unrivalled manoeuvrability and agility at low speeds and enhanced stability and confidence at higher speeds. Superior grip and driving dynamics are delivered by the Electronic Active Differential with Torque Vectoring by Braking.

The Range Rover Sport’s latest Adaptive Dynamics system will predict the body’s responses based on driver inputs – from throttle input to steering habits – and determine the roll and pitch rate it is about to experience. Recalibrating 500 times every second ensures it can prepare for upcoming corners within two milliseconds of input from the driver.

Aerodynamic excellence

New Range Rover Sport represents an impressive aerodynamic evolution over its predecessor, with multiple design and engineering developments contributing to a 15 per cent reduction in drag coefficient at 0.29Cd, even with the new model’s more imposing and assertive front design.

The most significant gains come from the contoured underfloor design enabled by the MLA architecture. A clean-sheet approach was taken to the underfloor design and the contoured underside, which features aerodynamically optimised teardrop-shaped recesses for the fixings, smooths the air flow underneath the vehicle to reduce drag, improves efficiency and enhances stability.

Elements of New Range Rover Sport’s reductive exterior design also improve the aerodynamic performance and interior refinement. These include the flush glazing and door handles, laser-welded roof panel and hidden waist rail finisher, while the longest and largest spoiler ever fitted to a Range Rover provides a dramatic design statement alongside significant aerodynamic benefits.

Dynamic Air Suspension and Adaptive Dynamics

Land Rover pioneered air suspension 30 years ago, and every New Range Rover Sport is fitted with the latest Dynamic Air Suspension system for unrivalled breadth of capability, from rapid responses and enhanced performance on the road to peerless all-terrain ability. It is engaging, precise and supple, perfectly balancing effortless comfort with controlled dynamics for a truly sporting character.

The system introduces switchable volume air springs for the first time on a Land Rover, featuring dual adaptable air chambers that provide a wider bandwidth of operation. Pressure within the electronically controlled springs can be adjusted by a control valve. For a more dynamic drive, pressure is increased inside the chamber for flatter cornering and enhanced agility, allowing the driver to personalise the driving experience and prioritise handling.

In everyday driving, the second chamber comes into operation to deliver a more composed, consistent and controlled ride. Technologies such as Active Speed Lowering – which automatically lowers the body height by 16mm at high cruising speeds – contribute to greater aerodynamic efficiency and refinement.

Imperceptible to the driver, the switch between driving modes happens silently and instantaneously to provide the desired dynamic response. Working in harmony with the other chassis systems governed by the Integrated Chassis Control system, the state-of-the-art switchable volume air springs bring together the best available technology to provide elevated roll and pitch control – ensuring New Range Rover Sport can precisely respond for ultimate control and comfort at all times.

Dynamic Air Suspension also features Pre-Emptive Suspension technology that monitors the route ahead to prime the suspension for approaching bends to maintain composure. It intelligently uses eHorizon navigation data to perfectly prepare for the finest ride, ensuring the following:

  • Cornering control – Vehicle speed data and information from the eHorizon navigation system are used to assess approaching corners and determine the most suitable settings for the suspension, reducing body roll for engaging cornering abilities.
  • Cruising composure – Changes to the vehicle speed and potential body pitching movements while using Adaptive Cruise Control is being used are countered by priming the suspension to ensure the smoothest ride.
  • Enhanced efficiency – Range Rover Sport lowers by 16mm at speeds above 105km/h for the most efficient performance on faster roads, assisted by eHorizon navigation data to detect dual carriageway driving faster than before, and lower the car accordingly.
  • Collision prevention – Agile responses are provided by the car switching to Dynamic mode if a collision is detected, ensuring Range Rover Sport can deal with a rapidly developing collision situation in a fast and effective way.

New Range Rover Sport’s Adaptive Dynamics 2 system is the latest generation of advanced suspension and damper control software – with a bespoke setup to ensure the finest ride tuning, with superior roll control. It complements the stiffer dual-rate air springs, using twin-valve monotube dampers to control the primary pitch, roll and ride of the vehicle in the most effective way possible – ensuring a consistently rewarding drive.

The Bilstein active dampers feature continuously variable valves, reacting within 12 milliseconds to any upward movement, while also being able to control the forces generated in the rebound following an upward movement.

All-Wheel Steering

New Range Rover Sport is available with All-Wheel Steering – standard on P510e Electric Hybrid and P530 powertrains – which improves responses and agility in dynamic driving and manoeuvrability at lower speeds. At speeds of up to 50km/h the system is configured to provide unparalleled manoeuvrability, such as in city streets and car parks, where a tight turning circle is key.

The wheels turn by up to 7.3 degrees in the opposite direction to the front wheels to effortlessly deliver a turning circle of less than 11m, assisted by a faster steering rack that also provides more agile responses in low-speed changes of direction.

At above 50km/ the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the front wheels, providing exceptional stability and enhanced agility. All-Wheel Steering ensures New Range Rover Sport feels even more agile than before – and like a much smaller vehicle – for a confidence-inspiring drive in all surroundings.

Dynamic Response Pro

Dynamic Response Pro ensures New Range Rover Sport consistently delivers the most composed responses. The electronic active roll control system is powered by a 48-volt power supply that governs the front and rear actuators, controlling the level of roll in corners and providing stable and consistent body control. The advanced technology provides a similar level of roll resistance to the previous Range Rover Sport SVR, only with superior comfort.

The actuators provide up to 1,400Nm of torque between the two halves of the anti-roll bar in all driving modes, with an integrated torque sensor and decoupling unit for precise control of the anti-roll system. Developed in-house, Dynamic Response Pro works with the latest Adaptive Dynamics 2 system to synchronise vehicle systems for the most appropriate and engaging vehicle setup.

Independent control of the actuators allows the system to adjust the distribution of roll control forces between the front and rear axles every 10 milliseconds – offering a finely balanced driving experience and honed agility in response to a variety of external factors, from lateral acceleration and vehicle speed to friction from the road surface.

The agility of New Range Rover Sport is heightened when Dynamic driving mode is selected. Dynamic Response Pro responds by reducing body roll movements even further, increasing agility.

The system has additional benefits for the off-road performance, where the anti-roll bar is decoupled to maximise wheel articulation and improve ride comfort on rough terrain. The closed-loop torque control functionality means the electronic actuators actively assist the vehicle on uneven surfaces to maintain stability.

Configurable Dynamic Mode

Configurable Programs allows drivers to personalise the Dynamic Mode. Multiple elements can be adjusted, with Normal and Dynamic options available. In Dynamic, the powertrain is more responsive with a more sensitive throttle pedal for faster responses, while steering weight is increased for greater feel and engagement through corners.

The transmission maintains higher engine speeds in each gear, keeping the car in the optimum powerband, while the air suspension is adjusted for greater agility. Dynamic mode is also where Dynamic Launch Mode can be engaged, setting up the powertrain to maximise straight-line acceleration from a standing start.

Intelligent All-Wheel Drive with Intelligent Driveline Dynamics

Every New Range Rover Sport powertrain uses an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission and the latest generation of Land Rover’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (iAWD) system to most effectively distribute power to the road via the Intelligent Driveline Dynamics system. It monitors grip levels and inputs from the driver 100 times a second to predict and distribute torque between the front and rear axles, as well as across the rear axle, for the optimum traction in all conditions.

All-wheel drive is always connected during off-road driving, as well as pulling away from a standstill, in cold weather and at speeds above 160km/h. At other times, the Range Rover Sport’s Driveline Disconnect and Torque on Demand all-wheel drive system manages the drive system, using the most appropriate form of propulsion for the situation.

The system is capable of providing full-time all-wheel drive, with the benefit of disconnecting drive to the front wheels, axle and propshaft when not necessary, for example at cruising speeds on the motorway or on dry roads – to enhance efficiency.

A centre clutch handles the all-wheel drive delivery to the front wheels and propshafts when required, seamlessly engaging when needed and constantly providing the most suitable and dynamic setup for the highest-performance drive.

Electronic Active Differential with Torque Vectoring by Braking

High-speed cornering performance is assisted by the New Range Rover Sport’s Electronic Active Differential. It optimises traction from the rear axle, instilling greater confidence during dynamic driving and complementing the Intelligent Driveline Dynamics system that controls it, which prioritises drive to the rear wheels.

Torque Vectoring by Braking technology contributes to this high-speed cornering capability, enhancing agility and grip by monitoring torque distribution across the axles. The system manages understeer and oversteer during cornering and balances the distribution of torque by braking one of the rear wheels. The rear axle can be locked so there is a 50/50 split of torque across each wheel.

The Electronic Active Differential also optimises traction on slippery surfaces and all-terrain articulation. In the open differential configuration, the Electronic Active Differential works with the torque vectoring system to shuffle the balance of torque by braking the wheel with the least grip and sending it to the wheel with the most grip for continuous progress over slippery terrain.

High-performance braking

New Range Rover Sport’s braking technologies have been honed to complement its peerless dynamic capabilities, providing a high-performance experience and consistent pedal feel.

The new model features brake-by-wire technology that benefits from faster and more refined responses than conventional setups, enhancing the drive and improving safety. Finer braking control is a result of an actuator-controlled piston operated by the foot pedal.

The latest braking system also features Active Brake Cooling technology to enable the Range Rover Sport to deliver consistent performance and reliability, in both dynamic on-road driving and demanding off-road manoeuvres. Efficiency is also maintained, by opening the ducts only when additional cooling is required – contributing to New Range Rover Sport’s impressive drag coefficient of just 0.29cd. Paired with lightweight brake discs that reduce unsprung mass for enhanced dynamics, lifecycle emissions are also reduced by a CO2 equivalent of up to 80kg across the lifetime of the vehicle.

Terrain Response 2® with Configurable Terrain Response

New Range Rover Sport’s peerless off-road capabilities are governed by the latest generation of Terrain Response 2®, featuring Configurable Terrain Response with the most comprehensive selection of bespoke settings for the most demanding of off-road manoeuvres.

Fitted to all models, Terrain Response 2® intelligently detects and adapts to the surroundings and conditions, perfectly setting up the vehicle for effortless progress across a range of terrain – providing all the capability any owner could need and getting them where they need to be with minimum effort.

Configurable Ride Comfort settings enable the driver to control the comfort levels over rough terrain, with the Terrain Response® system applying the appropriate settings to ensure the desired comfort. Off-road performance is also enhanced by the Range Rover Sport’s improved turning circle, while the All-Wheel Steering System is programmed to react differently in each Terrain Response® mode, optimising responses across different surfaces.

Configurable Terrain Response utilises the advanced chassis technologies to provide the most capable all-terrain performance. Individual preferences can be specified, with up to four custom terrain profiles available, while three configuration levels can be chosen for five different vehicle systems – the differentials, powertrain, steering, traction control and ride control. In Auto mode the Terrain Response® system will automatically give the best control in each situation, displaying recommended setting changes to the driver to select via the Pivi Pro screen. The Dynamic Air Suspension plays a vital role in the New Range Rover Sport’s off-road capability, able to lift to 135mm in the most extreme situations for up to 15 seconds when wheel slip is detected, to maintain progress in the most challenging off-road articulations.

Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control

Navigating rough terrain is even more relaxed and effortless with New Range Rover Sport’s innovative Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control – a Land Rover first. This takes All-Terrain Progress Control to the next level by sensing the ground conditions and automatically fine-tuning the speed of the vehicle to maintain stability, control and comfort according to which of the four comfort settings is selected.

The advanced system uses multiple algorithms, analysing body tilt, roll, pitch and yaw rates to automatically determine the optimum speed to maintain control on rough terrain. The driver is kept informed via the Pivi infotainment screen and the chosen speed and comfort setting are selected using the same steering wheel controls used to operate the on-road Adaptive Cruise Control.

The confidence-inspiring system allows drivers to effortlessly negotiate sandy beaches or muddy terrain as they focus solely on steering the vehicle. In flooded areas it even works in tandem with the Wade Mode function to help drivers maintain the perfect bow wave, for ultimate confidence and capability.

Wade Mode locks the driveline, sets ride height to its maximum and closes all cabin vents, to allow wading in up to 900mm of water. The Wade Sensing screen allows drivers to see the depth of water around the vehicle via the Pivi Pro screen, while the brake discs are ‘wiped’ when a different Terrain Response® mode is selected.


New Range Rover Sport’s advanced capabilities extend beyond its on- and off-road dynamics. It will tow up to 3.5 tonnes (3.0 tonnes for Electric Hybrid), with Advanced Tow Assist to aid reversing manoeuvres. The driver is able to steer a trailer into a space just using a rotary controller on the centre console – guided by trajectory lines displayed on the Pivi Pro screen via the rear camera.

Hitch Assist and Trailer Stability control make it easier to hitch a trailer and get driving with confidence and convenience, while the Electronically Deployable Towbar neatly stows out of sight at the touch of a button when not required.

Advanced development

Land Rover used state-of-the-art virtual simulators in the development of the New Range Rover Sport, including a new virtual off-road simulator element. This is in addition to the virtual world that includes mapped local roads surrounding the Gaydon headquarters. More than 140,000 hours of virtual analysis were completed prior to testing on the roads, reducing the number of real-world miles required by a fleet of prototype vehicles.


New Range Rover Sport’s unique character is shaped by its superior on-road driving dynamics and powerful and efficient powertrain line-up. The electrified range includes a choice of petrol-electric plug-in hybrids and mild hybrid petrol and diesels, while near-silent pure-electric power will arrive in 2024 – ensuring the luxury performance SUV has a propulsion choice to suit every customer.

The new extended range Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) powertrains the high-performance P510e. It provides a compelling balance of powerful performance and immediate responses from its six-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine, 105kW electric motor and 38.2kWh battery, which seamlessly combine to develop 375kW (510PS).

For customary Range Rover Sport performance, a new P530 V8 Twin Turbo is available, providing 390kW, 750Nm of torque and a 0-100km/h time of just 4.5 seconds with Dynamic Launch engaged – matching the previous Range Rover Sport SVR – while providing a 17 per cent improvement in efficiency over the old V8.

Advanced and efficient diesels

A broad range of powerful and efficient six-cylinder diesel engines is also available, offering strong responses with generous torque levels, bolstered by MHEV technology for optimised efficiency and responses. Three options are available – D250, D300 and D350 – with 183kW, 221kW and 258kW, respectively.

The D250 produces 600Nm of torque, ensuring strong pulling power, and is capable of 0-100km/h in 8.0 seconds The D300 delivers 650Nm of torque, for a 0-100km/h time of 6.6 seconds while the most powerful D350 provides 700Nm of torque and takes just 5.9 seconds to accelerate from 0-100km/h.

Diesel powertrains return up to 7.2l/100km fuel economy and produce 190g of CO2 (NEDC) and use the same energy-harvesting 48-volt MHEV technology as the Ingenium petrol engines, to boost efficiency while also providing more rapid responses.

The mild-hybrid system harvests energy normally lost during braking or deceleration. A Belt-integrated Starter Generator delivers faster responses and more refined operation of the stop-start system, while also providing added assistance for more rapid and responsive acceleration.

Land Rover’s six-cylinder Ingenium diesel engines are constructed using lightweight aluminium and a pair of close-coupled series sequentially arranged turbos. This delivers maximum heat to the catalyst, reducing the time the car takes to warm up and run with greater efficiency. Low-friction steel pistons and 2,500bar piezo injection also contribute to the diesel MHEV’s enhanced efficiency, while variable nozzle turbo technology allows 90 per cent of peak torque to be delivered in just over a second at 2,000rpm – ensuring the smoothest and most responsive drive.

Extended Range Electric Hybrid

The plug-in hybrid powertrain combines the effortless performance of Land Rover’s 3.0-litre straight-six Ingenium petrol with a 105kW electric motor and 38.2kWh battery (with a usable capacity of 31.8kWh – nearly three times the capacity of the model it replaces).

The P510e delivers CO2 emissions from 37g/km, and NEDC electric driving range of up to 125km. Based on real-world data from existing customers, Range Rover Sport owners will be able to complete around 75 per cent of their journeys using hushed electric-only power. For longer journeys, drivers benefit from a total driving range of 740km in real-world conditions.

The plug-in hybrid offers trademark Range Rover Sport performance, with the P510e capable of accelerating from 0-100km/h in 5.4 seconds and a top speed of 242km/h. It provides the perfect blend of thrilling driver engagement and effortless refinement, provided by a combination of its 3.0-litre six-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine and electric motor, for a combined output of 375kW and 700Nm of torque.

The 3.0-litre six-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine delivers strong performance even without the aid of the electric powertrain, so customers enjoy customary Range Rover Sport acceleration even when battery charge is low. Conversely, in full EV mode, drivers are able to cruise at a hushed 140km/h without using the petrol engine. The PHEV drives through an advanced eight-speed ZF automatic transmission and power is delivered to the wheels by Land Rover’s advanced Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system.

To make the most of their all-electric driving capability, plug-in hybrids feature rapid DC charging capability – New Range Rover Sport is one of the few plug-in hybrids to provide this technology. It will charge from 0 to 80 per cent in less than an hour using a 50kW rapid charger, while a domestic 7.2kW AC wallbox will deliver a full charge in under five hours, delivering ultimate convenience when charged at home overnight. Brake Energy Recuperation technology also harvests energy normally lost under braking and deceleration, which is fed back into the battery to maximise the EV driving range.

Customers can choose between three different driving modes:

  • HYBRID MODE – the default driving mode on start-up. Hybrid mode seamlessly optimises New Range Rover Sport’s hybrid powertrain for any situation. The advanced system uses eHorizon navigation data to preserve and prioritise running in EV mode, for example in low-emissions zones and built-up areas – while also prioritising EV mode for the last 6km of journeys in urban areas for smooth, zero-emissions arrivals.
  • EV MODE – uses electric power only, for hushed zero tailpipe emissions journeys.
  • SAVE MODE – preserves battery charge to be used at a point later in the journey. Drivers can set the desired level of charge to be retained using the Pivi Pro touchscreen.

Connected convenience

Drivers can make the most of the plug-in hybrid using the connectivity options delivered by the comprehensive Land Rover Remote app. These include Cabin Pre-Conditioning, which can be activated while the car is plugged in and charging, enabling customers to pre-warm or pre-cool their Range Rover Sport ahead of journeys, all via the convenience of a smartphone. Drivers can also manage a suite of PHEV-related Timed Charging functions, including:

  • Immediate Charging – commences battery charging immediately.
  • Low-Cost Hours Only – when plugged in, priority is given to charging during a specific time period (for instance, when energy costs are at their lowest).
  • Smart Charging – the car’s intelligent charging system will charge as efficiently as possible based on the planned departure time set by the driver. In conjunction with the pre-conditioning function, it will begin charging at the most cost-effective time.

The P510e PHEV is available with an optional Mode 2 charging cable for at-home charging, while a Mode 3 charging cable suitable for AC charging – via a domestic wallbox or public charging points – supplied as standard. The charging port is conveniently located on the rear side panel on the left-hand side of the vehicle.

Thrilling new V8 petrol engine

The pinnacle of the New Range Rover Sport’s petrol line-up is the new V8 Twin Turbo, available in 2022 in a limited collector’s offering of First Edition and then ongoing in 2023, delivering a visceral driving experience that makes the most of its advanced chassis technologies.

The 4.4-litre Twin Turbo V8 produces 390kW (530PS), making it the most powerful option available, with 750Nm of torque and a 0-100km/h time of just 4.5 seconds when Dynamic Launch mode is engaged – a system that consistently provides a transient rise in torque from a standing start for optimum acceleration.

The characteristic V8 soundtrack and authentic high-performance credentials of the new V8 combine with a 17 per cent improvement in fuel economy over the previous V8, while also delivering 20 per cent more torque for an elevated driving experience. Its twin-scroll turbochargers, which feature ceramic bearings, provide immediate responses and virtually eliminate turbo lag, while peak power and efficiency are enhanced by a water-cooler that reduces intake air temperature more effectively, ensuring the Range Rover Sport is a strong and consistent performer in all conditions.

Valvetronic variable intake lift brings precise control over the combustion process throughout the rev range, always ensuring strong and smooth performance, while steel cylinder liners have been replaced by spray bore technology, reducing weight and friction, and improving thermal efficiency.

The advanced eight-speed automatic transmission has been thoroughly re-engineered to optimise gearshift patterns based on inputs from the driver, including factors such as accelerator pedal gradient and downshifting behaviour. Hundreds of potential shift sequences have been optimised, for a flexible, dynamic and engaging drive.

Smooth and powerful Ingenium petrols

From 2023, the New Range Rover Sport will also be available with a comprehensive choice of Ingenium petrol engines, offering smooth performance and effortless pace, with Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) technology to optimise efficiency and responses. A twin-scroll turbocharger reduces turbo lag and improves engine response, assisted too by an electric supercharger.

Customers will be able to choose from Land Rover’s six-cylinder 3.0-litre engine P360 and P400 powertrains, with 265kW and 294kW respectively. The P360 produces 500Nm of torque and powers New Range Rover Sport from 0-100km/h in 6.0 seconds while the P400 takes only 5.7 seconds. Fuel consumption is rated at 9.4l/100km for both the P360 and P400, and CO2 emissions at 219g/km.

The MHEV system uses an advanced 48-volt electric supercharger and Belt-integrated Starter Generator in place of the alternator to assist the engine, both when stop-start is being used, or when greater pressure is applied on the accelerator pedal, with a 48-volt lithium-ion battery to store energy captured as the vehicle brakes and decelerates.


All powertrains in the New Range Rover Sport use a rapid-responding eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox and twin-speed transmission, linked with Land Rover’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system, seamlessly managing power distribution for the most capable and effortless driving experience in all conditions, from demanding off-road manoeuvres in low-range ratios to faster, engaging driving on more twisting sections of tarmac in the most involved Dynamic driving mode.
