2017 Lamborghini Aventador S now available in India for INR 5.01 Crore

Automobili Lamborghini has launched the 2017 Lamborghini Aventador S in India. The new Aventador S represents a new era of increased power, better driving dynamics, aerodynamic design and new suspension. It defines a new benchmark for the V12 Lamborghini.

The front of the Lamborghini Aventador S is now more aggressive and gets a longer front splitter that redirects the airflow for better aerodynamic efficiency. It also provides improved cooling to the engine and radiators. Reduction in the aerodynamic interference from the front tires is possible with the aid of two air ducts on the side of the front bumper which also optimises the flow to the rear radiator.

A black diffuser dominates the rear of the 2017 Lamborghini Aventador S. It is also available in carbon fibre finish, on request. There are three single exhaust outlets which exit through the rear bumper from the middle.

The new design of the Lamborghini Aventador S not only looks great but also results in improved aerodynamic performance. Front downforce has been improved by more than 130%. The rear wing which can be adjusted in three positions improves the overall efficiency at high downforce by over 50%. In low drag it is improved by more than 400%.

The cockpit of the Aventador S gets a new TFT digital dashboard which the users can customize according to the their preferences, with different kombi screens for the various driving modes. Apple CarPlay now comes as a standard specification.

The Lamborghini telemetry system which is an optional specification will appeal to an owner who wants to take his car on the track. It records lap times and track performance as well as trip data. The interior specification of the Aventador S is virtually limitless through Lamborghini’s Ad Personam customization program.

Powering the 2017 Lamborghini Aventador S is a 6.5-litre V12 engine which generates a maximum 740 hp, with a 690 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. To achieve the power increase, both Variable Valve Timing (VVT) and Variable Intake System (VIS) have been optimised. The maximum engine revs have also been increased from 8,350 to 8,500 rpm. The Aventador S also adopts a new exhaust system which is more than 20% lighter than the previous model.

A dry weight of just 1,575 kg provides a weight-to-power ratio of just 2.13 kg/hp. The Lamborghini Aventador S can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds. It has a top speed of 350 km/h. Transmission duty is carried out by Lamborghini’s lightweight Independent Shifting Rod (ISR) 7-speed shifting system. This gearbox provides robotized gear shifts in up to 50 milliseconds. Furthermore, the Lamborghini Aventador S gets stop-and-start system and cylinder deactivation for better engine efficiency.

Offered for the first time on a series production Lamborghini, is a new four-wheel steering that enhances lateral control. The new steering system provides improved agility at low and medium speeds and more stability at high speed.

Every aspect of the super car’s suspension has been redeveloped to provide a superior drive, ride and performance. Lamborghini has updated the pushrods and the Magneto-rheological Suspension (LMS), with revised kinematics adapted to the new four-wheel steering. A new real-time variable damping system along with new rear springs optimises wheel and body control.

The Aventador S gets a new ESC strategy with faster and more precise manipulation of traction control and vehicle dynamics, depending on the driving mode chosen. The permanent four-wheel drive offers a sporty yet safe drive.

The smart Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Attiva (LDVA) control unit is the new brain of the car. It receives real-time and precise information on body motion through various sensors of the car. It instantly specifies the best set-up of all active systems in order to ensure the best vehicle dynamics in each and every condition.

The Aventador S allows the driver to select between four different driving modes: STRADA, SPORT, CORSA and the new EGO mode. These modes regulate the behaviour of the engine, gearbox, 4WD, steering and suspension systems.

The Aventador S rides on a set of Pirelli P Zero tires which have been specially designed to optimise steering, traction, lane changes and braking efficiency. Carbon ceramic brakes are standard equipment for the Aventador S. The ventilated and perforated carbon ceramic discs enhance braking performance from 100 km/h to standstill in just 31 m.
