Force Motors has launched the updated versions of its go-anywhere passenger vehicle – The Force Gurkha EOV 4X4X4. Here EOV stands for Extreme Off Road Vehicle, while the 4X4X4 translates to 4WD X 4 Terrains X 4 Seasons.
The new range comes with cosmetic as well as mechanical upgrades and is available in 3-door (Xplorer) and 5-door (Xpedition) versions. The 3-door has an option for a softtop or hardtop and can be ordered in 3 seating configurations – 5+D, 4+D and 7+D. On the other hand, the 5-door comes with a hard top in the following seating configuration – 6+D and 8+D.
The Force Gurkha adorns a timeless design on the lines of the legendary Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen. There are also some design aspects which relate to the iconic Land Rover Defender, especially from the rear view of the hard top variant. The 2017 model sports new front and rear steel bumpers, clear lens headlamps, fog lamps, large ORVMs, sturdy and slip-resistant full-length foot board and 16-inch alloy wheels.
The purpose-built interiors of the Force Gurkha get a new stylish steering wheel and a new centre console with ample storage. The hardtop model of the off-roader now comes equipped with factory fitted air conditioning. Four colour options are offered – Matt Black, Copper Red, Superior White and Moondust Silver.
Both variants of the Force Gurkha are powered by the BS IV compliant, Mercedes OM 616 derived, 2.6-litre Turbo Charged Inter-cooled, direct injection diesel engine that develops 85 hp of power and 230 Nm of torque. This engine is mated with the new G-28, 5-speed all-synchromesh gearbox with Cable Shift for smooth gear shifting and convenient H pattern.
The Gurkha is built on an all new C-in-C Chassis frame welded using advanced robotic welding technique for excellent strength in bending and torsion. Cathodic Electro-Deposition (C.E.D) primer coating provides unmatched corrosion resistance. It features independent front suspension and Multi-Link with Panhard rod and coil spring suspension in the rear along with gas charged telescopic shock absorbers and Anti Roll Bars.
Other salient features of the Force Gurkha include 4×4 with Differential Lock on both axles, best in class gradability (40 degrees) and a snorkel mounted at the roof height of the vehicle which ensures ample supply of clean air to the engine and also gives it a high water wading ability of upto 550 mm.
