2024 Volvo XC60 Black Edition launched in USA

Volvo Car USA is adding a new variant of one of its best-selling SUVs to its lineup. The XC60 Black Edition will be available as a 2024 model, adding an eye-catching styling option to the top levels of its award-winning luxury SUV. The Black Edition styling option most recently appeared on the award-winning S60 Sedan.

Available only on the top-spec Ultimate equipment level, the Black Edition pairs the stealthy Onyx Black exterior color with numerous exclusive black details including a glossy black iron mark logo, Volvo spread word mark, and unique 21-inch 5-Double Spoke High Gloss Black Alloy wheels to add a sporty, yet elegant look to the XC60.

The XC60 Black Edition will be available to order soon with deliveries commencing in early 2024.

An essential part of the Volvo Cars line-up for the last 15 years, the Volvo XC60 was named 2018 World Car of the Year and has become a favorite amongst those who appreciate the understated luxury of Scandinavian design.

2024 Volvo XC60 Black Edition Price:

Model                          Starting MSRP (excluding destination)
XC60 B5 AWD Ultimate Black Edition$57,500
XC60 T8 Recharge Ultimate Black Edition$68,950

Scandinavian inspired interiors

In addition to the black headliner in the Black Edition’s charcoal interior, customers will have the choice of two premium seat upholstery options. With either Charcoal Ventilated Nappa Leather or Nappa Leather/Leatherette/Textile Sport Seats, both provide a sophisticated and dynamic cockpit-like feel inside the XC60.

Each interior will be complemented by contrasting metal mesh aluminum decor, a crystal gear shift knob by Orrefors®, and a 12.3-inch Digital Driver Display complete with Google built in.

Two electrified powertrains

As part of the Swedish luxury car brand’s commitment to sustainability Volvo will offer two highly capable hybrid powertrain options

The XC60 Recharge Black Edition T8 features the company’s popular plug-in hybrid powertrain, which offers the perfect balance of speed, performance and fuel efficiency by combining a 312 hp four-cylinder turbocharged engine with a 143 hp electric motor. Thanks to the 18.8 kWh high voltage battery featured on the 2024 XC60 Recharge, drivers can achieve up to 35 miles of fully electric range in Pure mode*.

The XC60 B5 AWD Black Edition will utilize Volvo Cars’ mild hybrid technology, which combines both a traditional internal combustion engine and an electric integrated starter generator to minimize carbon dioxide emissions and improve fuel economy, while providing customers with real-world performance benefits, all without ever having to plug in.

As of model year 2023 the entire line-up of Volvo cars consists of mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or fully electric vehicles. Meaning customers, regardless of lifestyle or access to charging, can find an electrified Volvo car to fit their needs.

Joining an already impressive product portfolio

The rest of Volvo Car’s 2024 line-up is headlined by the introduction of two new Volvo-developed powertrain options on the fully electric C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge.

These new powertrains offer increased range and improved charging times, whilst maintaining the safety and secure driving dynamics that Volvo customers have come to expect.

For the first time in 25 years, Volvo Car USA will offer rear-wheel drive options. Thanks to the more even weight distribution offered by electric vehicles, traction for the rear wheels is greatly improved when compared with a traditional front-engine ICE car.

In addition to XC60, C40, and XC40, Volvo Car USA continues to offer the S60, S90, V60, V90, and XC90 to customers in the US.

Within the past 12 months, Volvo Cars has also announced two brand new, fully electric, SUVs will soon join the lineup. The Volvo EX90 & EX30, available to pre-order now, mark a major step on the company’s journey towards being a fully electric car company by 2030 and its ambition to be carbon neutral by 2040.
