2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG E 63 and 53 India Launch

The AMG E 53 4M+ is just the second model in the ‘AMG 53 series’ to be launched in India, and the first with a sedan body form. The powerful AMG E 63 S 4M+, on the other hand, reaffirms Mercedes- AMG’s focus on the “One Man, One Engine” philosophy and offers all performance purists the AMG brand promise of “Driving Performance.”

Mercedes-AMG’s primary model series, the 63 series, continues to amaze car enthusiasts all over the world. The AMG E 63 S 4M+ now has a more striking look, improved aerodynamics, and superior comfort, making it an ideal car for race track performance as well as everyday drivability.

With 11 AMG vehicles in India, including the 35, 43, 53, 63, and GT series, Mercedes-AMG currently has the broadest range of performance automobiles in India across all body forms. Mercedes-Benz hopes to strengthen its position in the luxury performance car market in India with the inclusion of the AMG E 53 4M+ and AMG E 63 S 4M+.

The E-Class, with its superior engine, has long been one of the essential vehicles that make up Mercedes-brand AMG’s foundation. The aggressive vehicle dynamics of Affalterbach’s performance variants are paired with significantly more comfort. The central cooling air inlet in the entirely restyled front section is substantially larger than before, and now carries the AMG-specific radiator grille with twelve vertical louvres and a larger centre star.

The interiors are improved with a Widescreen Cockpit, an AMG Performance steering wheel, and the MBUX infotainment system with AMG-specific features and displays, reinforcing its AMG family affiliation.

On the rear end of the automobile, two new, flatter taillights with two sections immediately grab attention. They’ve been extended into the boot lid, where they’re visibly connected on top with, a high-gloss chrome strip. The redesigned rear apron emphasises the car’s overall width while also improving aerodynamics.

The E 63 S comes standard with new 20-inch 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels that are likewise aerodynamically optimised and have a wider aero rim edge, and are available in matt black or high-gloss tantalum grey. The AMG E 53 4M+’s dramatic appearance is completed by restyled 19-inch light-alloy wheels with an aerodynamically optimised 5-twin-spoke design.

The interior combines a luxurious atmosphere and high-quality materials with AMG’s signature performance.. They combine secure lateral support with high comfort on long journeys and have an AMG-specific seat upholstery layout with an “AMG” badge in the front seat backrests.

Ambient lighting that can be adjusted individually is also included as standard. The MBUX infotainment system, which includes a touchscreen and touchpad, sophisticated voice control, and AMG-specific displays and settings, is another standout.

Customers can choose from three AMG display styles for the instrument cluster display: “Modern Classic,” “Sport,” and “Supersport.” With a central, round rev counter and horizontal displays presented in perspective to the left and right of the rev counter, the “Supersport” mode creates a spatial feeling of depth.

The driver can access multiple specific AMG displays via the AMG menu, including Engine Data, gear speed indicator, Warm-up, Set-Up, G-Meter, and RACETIMER. The touchscreen is used for individual AMG displays, such as depiction of drive programmes or telemetry data.

The new AMG Performance steering wheel, with its characteristic twin-spoke shape and flawlessly integrated controls, brings the human and machine even closer together. The steering wheel rim is a characteristic motorsport element, with three rounded twin spokes that combine stability and lightness.

A sensor mat is also installed in the steering wheel rim to detect “hands-on.” If the driver’s hands are not on the steering wheel for an extended period of time, a warning cascade is initiated, culminating in the activation of Emergency Brake Assist if the driver remains inactive.

The aluminium shift paddles on the left and right behind the steering wheel rim can be used to operate the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G transmission by hand. The paddles have been somewhat enlarged and moved down for even more precise shift commands.

The drive programmes, media volume, 3-stage ESP, manual transmission mode, the Adaptive Damping System, the optional AMG Performance exhaust system, the ECO start/stop function, and the reversing camera are all controlled by an AMG-specific control unit with additional switches in the centre console.

The AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9-speed transmission in the AMG E 63 S 4M+ and the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission in the E 53 have been fine-tuned to the performance versions’ needs. The autonomous software allows for incredibly fast repeated downshifts and extremely short shift times, while the double-clutching function creates an emotional gearshifting experience.

The AMG E 63 S 4M+ comes with standard AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive. This sophisticated technology combines the benefits of many drive concepts: for the first time, torque distribution on the front and rear axles is totally changeable, ensuring optimal traction on every surface.

Drift Mode, which turns the AMG E 63 S 4MATIC+ into a strictly rear-wheel-drive vehicle, can also be activated by the driver. Drift Mode is active until the driver turns it off.

On the E 63 S, the characteristics of the new model can be altered with up to six DYNAMIC SELECT drive programmes: “Slippery,” “Comfort,” “Sport,” “Sport+,” “Individual,” and “RACE.” The options range from practical and comfy to extremely sporty. The modes change important elements such as the engine’s responsiveness, gearbox, suspension, and steering. “Slippery,” “Comfort,” “Sport,” “Sport+,” and “Individual” are the five DYNAMIC SELECT driving programmes available on the E 53.
