Tata Harrier SUV launched in India; Priced from INR 12.69 Lakh

Tata Motors has launched its much-awaited SUV, the Harrier at a starting price of INR. 12.69 Lakh, ex-showroom Mumbai. It was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2018 as the Tata H5X Concept. The Harrier will be built on a 90% automated BIW and new assembly line, in Pune to ensure robust build quality. The SUV will be available in four variants – XE, XM, XT, XZ.

2019 Tata Harrier Colour Options:

The new Tata SUV comes in five colour options – Calisto Copper, Thermisto Gold, Ariel Silver, Telesto Grey & Orcus White. The XE variant is available only in Orcus White shade while the Calisto Copper is not available in the XM trim.

The Tata Harrier is based on the Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced (OMEGA) Architecture which has been developed in collaboration with Jaguar Land Rover. It is built using the Land Rover’s legendary D8 Platform and optimised for Indian conditions. The Harrier is the also the first vehicle to sport the new IMPACT Design 2.0 design language of Tata Motors, which will appeal to customers with its stunning exteriors and luxurious interiors.

The Harrier is powered by the Kryotec 2.0 diesel engine which comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The 2-litre motor delivers 140 PS power and 350 Nm of torque. It is equipped with an Advanced Electronically Controlled Variable Geometry Turbocharger (eVGT). The engine also gets Multi-drive Mode 2.0 which allows the driver to select from three Drive Modes – Eco, City and Sport.

The new Tata Harrier is not a true blue off-road vehicle and currently comes only in Front wheel drive configuration but with the ESP Terrain Response system, the SUV is capable enough to even face some rough terrains. The driver can select from three modes – Normal, Rough and Wet.

The front and rear suspensions on the Harrier are said to be specially tuned for Indian conditions to deliver a refined ride and great handling. The front suspension and hydra bush have been carried over from the Land Rover D8 Platform while the rear twist blade suspension has been specially designed by Lotus Engineering UK.

The Harrier has strong proportions and expressive surfaces which provides it with a true SUV stance along with incredible road presence and a sense of dynamism. It has a floating roof with bold chrome finisher, flared wheel arches and dual function LED DRLs.

The interior design is clean, clutter free and offers a blend of a great balance of style and practicality. The use of high-quality materials and colour combinations enhances the experience, lending a premium and luxurious feel to the interiors.

The new Tata Harrier features a Floating Island Touchscreen Infotainment System with 8.8-inch High-Resolution Display. This system offers amazing in-car connectivity and infotainment though Android Auto & Apple Car Play, the ConnectNext App Suite (DriveNext, Tata Smart Remote, Tata Smart Manual), Video & Image Playback, Voice Recognition & SMS Readout, Voice Alerts, and a lot more.

The SUV also comes with a 320W RMS JBL Audio System with 9 speakers (4 Speakers + 4 Tweeters + 1 Subwoofer) which creates an acoustically-tuned audio experience. The Harrier also features seamless mirroring of media, phone and navigation information between the infotainment and 7-inch Coloured TFT Display Instrument Cluster.
