Tata Harrier officially revealed; 1st SUV rolls out from its all-new assembly line in Pune

Tata Motors has officially revealed the new Tata Harrier and has also announced the rollout of the 1st production model of the Tata H5X Concept from its all-new manufacturing line in Pune. The company is now gearing up for the launch of its much-awaited SUV in early 2019.

The Tata Harrier needed a completely new approach to product development and manufacturing processes. The completely new world-class assembly line has been built in a record time of 6 months with the best manufacturing practices adopted from Jaguar Land Rover. It boasts of 90% automation levels with over 100+ KUKA and ABB robots.

Born of legendary pedigree from the Land Rover stable, the Harrier comes with sleek looks and dynamism. The Harrier is also the first Tata Motors vehicle to sport the company’s new IMPACT Design 2.0 philosophy. It will offer an extraordinary exterior design, thoughtfully and intelligently designed plush interiors, future-ready connectivity and best-in-class infotainment.

The 5 seater monocoque SUV is engineered on the new generation ‘Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced’ Architecture, which is derived from the legendary Land Rover D8 architecture and developed in collaboration with Jaguar Land Rover.

Power for the new Tata Harrier will come from the FCA sourced 2.0-litre ‘Kroytec’ diesel engine which will produce 140 PS of power. This motor will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and will also come with a Hyundai-sourced 6-speed automatic transmission.

The price of the Tata Harrier, which is the most expensive Tata Motors vehicle yet is expected to be between INR 16 lakh to INR 21 lakh.
