The tiger-inspired Isuzu mu-X SUV launched in India

Isuzu Motors India Private Limited (IMI), a subsidiary of Isuzu Motors Limited, Japan has launched its premium full-size SUV, the ISUZU mu-X in India. The new SUV is targeted at buyers who seek style, power with best-in-class space and comfort.

The exterior appearance of the Isuzu mu-X SUV is inspired by the tiger. It is equipped with double slat chrome grille, two-tone front and rear bumpers and 17- inch multi-spoke diamond-cut alloy wheels. The muscular and dynamic design features give the mu-X a dominating road presence.

The full-size SUV has been designed to provide the best-in-class space inside and has a capacity for 7 people. The seats are wrapped in soft leather and come with adjustable headrests and a comfortable third row. The second and third row both gain one-touch tumble seats. The driver seat is power adjustable in 6-ways.

The front dashboard is finished in dual tone ivory-grey colour scheme and features a twin cockpit design that allows easily accessible controls for both, the driver and the front passenger. The rear passengers can be kept entertained using the roof-mounted 10-inch DVD entertainment screen along with a great surround sound system.

Powering the Isuzu mu-X is the 3.0-litre ISUZU Ddi VGS Turbo Hi-Power engine which the company claims is renowned for it robustness and reliability. The diesel motor develops a power of 177 PS and a torque of 380 Nm. The Isuzu mu-X will be available in both 4×2 and 4×4 variants with a 5-speed sequential shift Automatic Transmission. The 4WD variant is equipped with a shift-on-the-fly 4×4 select dial with low and high range.

The Isuzu mu-X is constructed using high tensile steel body with tailor welded blanks and crumple zones with anti-intrusion bars. The independent double wishbone front suspension along with the Penta-Link rear suspension provides excellent ride comfort.

The Isuzu mu-X is quite capable offroad as well and features front steel underbody plates for protection. It is also equipped with advanced active safety systems like Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Traction Control System (TCS), 4 Channel 4 Sensor Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) with Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD). It also gets dual front airbags, front seatbelts with pre-tensioners and load limiters, and 3 ISOFIX child seat anchorage points.

Other key features of the mu-x SUV include Smart Keyless Entry, Cruise control, Automatic Climate Control with ceiling-mounted blowers for 2nd and 3rd row seats, Engine Start/Stop button, Rear defogger, Electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs with turn indicators, Tilt adjustable steering wheel, Steering mounted controls, Rear parking camera, Multiple storage options and three power outlets with two USB ports.

The Isuzu mu-X SUV is available in four colours – Cosmic Black, Titanium Silver, Orchid Brown and Silky White Pearl.
