The Ford Maverick, the unexpected star of the decade, is back and better than ever. Since its 2021 debut, this compact truck has captured hearts with its perfect blend of capability, versatility, and affordability.
Now, Ford is elevating its smallest truck to new heights. A new all-wheel drive option for the Hybrid model, available in early 2025, dramatically enhances off-road performance and towing capacity of the new Ford Maverick. Inside, a larger 13.2-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto simplifies life, while advanced towing technologies boost confidence.
These enhancements are a direct response to the passionate Maverick community, the most loyal in the midsize truck segment. Their love for the Maverick’s versatility, Built Ford Tough durability, and exceptional value has driven unprecedented demand. In fact, 60% of Maverick owners traded in vehicles from other brands, proving its appeal extends far beyond traditional truck buyers.

The 2025 Ford Maverick Hybrid stands out by not making customers choose between versatility and efficiency. The front-wheel drive variant is targeting an EPA-estimated rating of 42 miles per gallon in the city, while the hybrid all-wheel drive is aiming for an EPA-estimated 40 miles per gallon in the city.
Built Ford Tough Capability and Versatility
The most significant update, driven by the top request from owners, is the introduction of an all-wheel-drive hybrid model. Available on the XL, XLT, and Lariat trims, this model enhances traction across various road and trail conditions, making it suitable for all types of weather. This hybrid all-wheel-drive model is perfect for towing small campers, personal watercraft, and utility trailers, especially with the optional 4K Tow Package.
With a maximum payload capacity of 1,500 pounds, the Maverick’s FLEXBED system helps customers organize their loads more effectively. Molded pockets in the sidewalls allow for the insertion of 2x4s to section off the bed, preventing cargo and gear from shifting during transport. The dividers in the top pockets enable two-tier loading, ideal for stacking bags of mulch on the bottom and landscape timbers on top. The bed, along with the multi-position tailgate, can accommodate up to 18 full sheets of half-inch 4-by-8-foot plywood.
The multi-position tailgate offers versatility for hauling long items like 2x4s or couches when positioned flat. It can also be secured in a middle position to transport a mountain bike, providing a resting place for the rear wheel. For added cargo security, a bed extender is available through Ford Accessories.
Powering tools and gear is made easy with the 110V/400W outlet located in the bed, complemented by an additional outlet in the cab. DIY enthusiasts will appreciate the pre-wired 12V connections that allow for the addition of custom features like extra outlets or lighting.
Cutting-Edge Technology to Enhance Convenience and Reduce Stress
The Maverick now comes equipped with SYNC 4, showcased on the largest standard touchscreen in its class—a 13.2-inch display that replaces the previous 8-inch screen. This is complemented by an 8-inch digital instrument cluster located above the steering wheel. With wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, owners can leave their phone cords at home. SYNC 4, featuring Enhanced Voice Recognition and connected navigation, keeps drivers connected and informed. Additionally, a new built-in 5G modem ensures the Maverick stays up-to-date with the latest software updates.
The SYNC 4 system also serves as a gateway to various advanced technologies. Navigating urban environments with tight corners and limited parking spaces is now easier with the new 360-Degree Camera, introduced for the 2025 model year and adapted from the popular F-Series. This feature provides a split-view display of the area directly in front of or behind the vehicle, along with cross-traffic views.
For those who frequently tow, the available Pro Trailer Hitch Assist simplifies the process of hitching a trailer. Using the rear camera and corner radars, it aligns the hitch with the trailer coupler while simultaneously controlling the truck’s speed, steering, and braking to ensure precise alignment. Once hitched, Pro Trailer Backup Assist makes reversing with a trailer straightforward, allowing drivers to control the direction with a simple turn of a knob.
These towing technologies are crucial, as nearly half of Maverick owners use their trucks for towing, even those transitioning from small cars and SUVs. Pro Trailer Hitch Assist and Pro Trailer Backup Assist are standard features on the Lariat and Tremor trims.
The 2025 Maverick also offers peace of mind with the standard suite of Ford Co-Pilot360 technology. Every model comes equipped with Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane-Keeping Aid, a Rear View Camera, and Auto LED High-Beam Headlamps.
New this year, the Lariat and Tremor trims are equipped with Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go, Lane Centering, and Speed Sign Recognition, enhancing driving convenience and safety.
Updated Design, Inside and Out
The Maverick has been refreshed for a striking new look. The LED headlamps, front bumper, and grille have all been redesigned, with the dark appearance now standard. Higher trims come with LED projector headlamps and LED signature accent lighting, giving them a more premium appearance. Each trim level now features unique grille designs to distinguish their styles.
The Lariat trim stands out with new 19-inch wheels that add an extra touch of sophistication. Inside, the Maverick continues to impress with new colors and materials for the door panels, instrument panel, console, and seats. Responding to customer requests, the XLT trim now offers the Aspen Gray/Navy Pier theme with Grabber Blue accents, while the Lariat trim introduces a Smoke Truffle theme with bronze accents.
A new Black Package adds an exclusive grille, black roof, black Ford badges, and 19-inch gloss black wheels for a sleek, modern appearance.
