Mahindra XUV300 compact SUV revealed; to be launched in February 2019; Electric versions planned as well

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M) has unveiled the brand name of its new offering in the highly competitive sub-4m compact SUV segment. The product code-named S201 will be launched as the Mahindra XUV300 (pronounced as XUV, 3 double ‘Oh’). It will be produced at Mahindra’s manufacturing facility at Nasik, in Maharashtra.

The new Mahindra XUV300 shares its platform with the SsangYong Tivoli which has received multiple safety and ergonomic awards including a Grade 1 (highest) safety award from the 2015 KNCAP (Korean New Car Assessment Program), automotive safety test.

2019 Mahindra XUV300 Exterior:

The Mahindra XUV300 is very similar to the Tivoli in terms of silhouette but the body panels have been redesigned to give it a distinct look as well as make it shorter to comply with the sub-4m norms.

The Mahindra XUV300 carries forward the characteristics of the Mahindra XUV500 with its cheetah-inspired design. The headlamps integrate with the fog lamps forming a Cheetah-like tear-duct, while the pronounced wheel arches are inspired from the muscular haunches of the Cheetah.

The front grille, sculpted bonnet, pronounced shoulder and body lines along with an elevated stance, give the XUV300 a bold and charismatic road presence. The compact SUV gets dual LED DRLs and bold LED tail lamps which create an indelible visual signature. It will also get 17-inch alloy wheels on the top-end model.

The interior of the XUV300 is identical to that of the Tivoli. The cabin dual tone black and beige colour scheme. The centre console gets a Luminescence Silver and Gloss Black finish. The seats seem to be finished in a mix of fabric and leatherette material. All together the cabin seems to be looking premium, modern and well put together.

2019 Mahindra XUV300 Features:

Mahindra is known to pack their vehicles with lots of features and the case is the same with the new XUV300 as well. The compact SUV is said to come with a few segment-first features such as 7 airbags, Dual-zone Fully Automatic Climate Control and disc brakes on all 4 wheels. It will also come with a sunroof on the top-end variant.

2019 Mahindra XUV300 Engine & Transmission:

The XUV300 will come in both diesel and petrol options. While the company hasn’t revealed the specs, the powertrain is not supplied by Ssangyong and has been developed by Mahindra. The SUV will come initially only with a 6-speed manual transmission.

Mahindra is also planning to launch the XUV300 Electric variant in future. These will come in two configurations, one engineered to provide a long range, while the other will have more power.

2019 Mahindra XUV300 Price:

The official price will be revealed in February 2019 but as it is known from Mahindra, the base variant of the XUV300 will be undercutting the competition such as the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, etc.

2019 Mahindra XUV300 Colour Options:

The new Mahindra XUV300 SUV will be available in 6 colour options – Red Rage, Pearl White, Aquamarine, Sun Burst Orange, Napoli Black and DSAT Silver.
