Jawa Motorcycles has launched its first range of products in India. The first bike is the homage to the original motorcycle and hence it is also called as ‘Jawa’ (no suffix or prefix) This is also what the first-ever motorcycle built by the Czech bike maker was called.
2018 Jawa Price in India:
The Jawa is priced at INR 1,64,000/- (ex-showroom Delhi).
Along with the Jawa, the company also launched the Jawa Forty-Two motorcycle and also showcased the factory-custom Perak bobber, which will be launched sometime later in 2019.
Jawa Motorcycles have signed up with 105 dealers across India out of which 64 dealers will start functioning from 5 December 2018 onwards. Test ride bikes should be available by mid-December while deliveries for the Jawa and Forty Two will start early 2019.
One of the major attraction towards the Jawa is its classic looks. The designers have maintained most of the design elements from the original bike yet have been able to give it a modern touch. Even the engine has been designed to look similar to the older one yet is packed with modern day technology.
The Jawa features a round fuel tank finish in dual-tone with chrome. The bike retains the classic design features such as the shape of the headlamp nacelle with integrated speedometer, toolbox cover and large fenders. It even features the iconic cigar shaped exhaust we have seen on the original model.
Another major highlight of this motorcycle is the beautifully sculpted engine. This motor is a 293 cc single-cylinder, four-valve, liquid-cooled engine and is BS-VI compliant. It produces a power of 27 hp and 28 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission and gets twin exhausts.
The motorcycle is built on a double cradle frame where the engine serves as a stressed member. Suspension duty is carried out by Telescopic Hydraulic Fork at the front and Gas charged Twin hydraulic shocks at the rear. The bike has a wheelbase of 1369 mm and seat height of 765 mm.
Stopping power comes from a 280mm disc with floating calliper and ABS at the front and a 153 mm drum brake at the rear. The motorcycle runs on 18-inch wheels at front with 90/90 size tyres and 17-inch wheels at the rear with 120/80 size tyres.
