These police cars are part of the 195 TUV300s that have been recently inducted into the Mumbai Police fleet. Mahindra vehicles have a legacy of associating with India’s military and paramilitary forces and have a proven record in various operations of military and paramilitary forces.

Earlier the Mumbai Police had cars like Maruti Gypsy, Tata Sumo and even the Toyota Qualis in their fleet. Later most of them were replaced by the Mahindra Bolero.

The Mahindra TUV300 will likely replace the now ageing Mahindra Bolero vehicles which have served the Mumbai police force for more than a decade. Recently, the Mumbai police had also added the Maruti Ertiga MPV to its fleet which is being used to patrol around the city.

The Mahindra TUV300 that will serve the Mumbai Police department is the T4+ variant. This model comes with AC, central locking, power windows and manually adjustable wing mirrors. The SUV also comes with ABS and dual front airbags as standard.

The cars are painted in white and have been stickered with the Mumbai police themed decals on the outside. It also gets an emergency light on the roof. Apart from this, the car remains same as the regular version inside and outside. The interiors are expected to sport minor modifications as well to suit the requirements of the police.

The Mahindra TUV300 is powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine which produces 84 hp. It will be more fuel efficient than the Mahindra Bolero which is powered by a 2.5-litre diesel engine.

The TUV300 delivers 11.4 kmpl in city and 15.5 kmpl on highway whereas the Bolero provides around 10.79 kmpl in city and 13.34 kmpl on highway. The TUV300 is also quicker as it does 0-100 km/h in around 19 seconds while the Bolero does the same in over 25 seconds.
