The final Rolls-Royce Phantom VII to roll off the production line is a beautifully crafted extended wheelbase limousine which was commissioned by a renowned contemporary Rolls-Royce collector. The patron’s fascination with the design and iconography of the grand era of the 1930s can be reflected by the art of marquetry which depicts a stylised 1930s ocean liner.

The maritime theme continues with the application of tone-on-tone embroidery applied to the interior’s Powder Blue leather which conveys the movement of the sea. Even the lambswool carpet have been crafted depicting the nautical theme which features a hand-cut wake effect.

From its introduction a little over 90 years ago, every motor car that has borne the title ‘Phantom’ has reset the standard by which all other luxury goods are judged

Just like it has been the tradition with all Rolls-Royce cars, every possible detail has been considered. The clocks, have been designed to mimic the style of the radio clocks that adorned the grand ocean liners. The bezel reminds of HG Well’s time machine and has 24 time zones on it which the owner can rotate in either direction depending on their location.

The exterior is finished in an impressive Blue Velvet shade. Two coachlines run along the shoulder and also get an ocean liner motif. The detailing also extends towards the tyres which get a white pinstripe. A solid silver Spirit of Ecstasy has adorned the bonnet of this final Rolls-Royce Phantom VII.

The decommissioning of the seventh generation Phantom production line sets the stage for the introduction of Phantom VIII which will be based on an all-new aluminium architecture. Like its predecessor the next generation Phantom will set standards and its arrival will begin yet another great chapter in the history of the automobile’s most celebrated name in luxury which has found its place in garages of some of the world’s most famous and richest people.
