The BMW Motorrad Concept Link utilises an entirely new design language. The low-slung, stretched body and the flat seat combined with the diagonally rising front section form a modern yet distinctive silhouette.

The large matt black area referred as the technical heart, becomes the core of the concept. Stretching from the front to the rear it houses the wheels and front LEC lights along with the drive unit and the suspension elements. The two-tone body is finished in Liquid Metal Titanium and a semi-matt black colour. The rear lights have been incorporated into the rear side panels in the form of two C-shaped light elements.

The side panels have been optimised for aerodynamic air flow and also provide shelter against wind and weather. The panels stretch across the side of the vehicle like small wings and allow to view the technical elements like the drive unit, cooling ribs, single-sided swing arm, spring strut and tooth belt. The sides of the wheels are fully covered, providing the scooter with a contemporary overall visual appeal.

The BMW Motorrad Concept Link has been designed to meet the requirements of modern urban mobility with fast acceleration and easy handling. Its low overall height makes getting on and off easy. The battery packs are located in the underbody providing a flat floor space.

The futuristic scooter also comes with a reverse gear which ensures that it is easy to move and park in tight spaces. The bench seat can be adjusted lengthwise to suit every preference. The unique proportions of the BMW Motorrad Concept Link also generate new storage spaces. The rider can gain access to the luggage compartment using a sliding door.

The BMW Motorrad Concept Link will also allow customisation options to the rider. The seat bench can be modified in a number of ways.  It can be either a sporty single-seater, a seat bench for two or anything in between. Further customisation options, such as side panels in various colours or different windshields will enable the owners to build their rides unique.

The BMW Motorrad Concept Link is a smart mobility solution which interprets the connection between rider, vehicle and the environment for urban use. Required information such as speed, navigation and battery information are projected onto the windshield directly into the rider’s field of vision.

Secondary information is displayed on the large touch sensitive surface panel which is situated below the handlebars. There are programmable, touch-enabled buttons on the handlebars that allow the rider to access preferred and commonly used functions without taking the hands off from the handlebars.

In order to provide a more connected experience, the designers at BMW have also created a smart riding gear which communicates with the vehicle. A hand movement with the jacket on initiates the opening and closing of the sliding door of the luggage compartment.

The riding gear is also a fashion statement and does not look like the typical motorcycle gear. It is more like a bespoke short coat and has been crafted from water-repellent loden cloth. The gear also provides protection, it houses light shoulder and elbow protectors which are not visible in the modern cut of the coat.
