Record-Breaking Lamborghini Huracan Performante Launched in India at INR 3.97 Crore

Lamborghini Huracan Performante, first unveiled at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show has now been launched in India. All units of this limited-production model that were allotted for the Indian market have already been sold out.

Lamborghini Huracan Performante launched in India

The new supercar from Automobili Lamborghini combines latest lightweight technologies, active aerodynamics with aero vectoring, a new set-up of chassis, all-wheel-drive system and notably improved powertrain. The result was that the Lamborghini Huracan Performante established a best lap time of 6:52.01 minutes on the Nurburgring track in Germany and emerged as the fastest standard production car.

The Lamborghini Huracan Performante draws inspiration from the Super Trofeo race cars and carries the DNA of a true Lamborghini, with its distinct design that highlights the car’s Active Aerodynamics – Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva (ALA) and lightweight build purpose. This patented active aerodynamic system developed by Lamborghini for the Huracan Performante serves an active variation of the aero load for high downforce or low drag. It is based on a hybrid aluminium and carbon fibre frame. Its body is made from aluminium in combination with considerable use of Lamborghini’s award-winning Forged Composite.

The active aerodynamic components of the sports car are created from Forged Composite with a gloss finish which compliments the other matt and gloss black carbon fibre parts. The front of the Huracan Performante gets a race car like sharp look with the design of the air intakes and splitter lending it a very powerful appearance. The active aerodynamic front spoiler integrates the electric motor of the front ALA system, made in a carbon forged frame with active flaps on the top exterior surface. To emphasise lightweight, efficiency and sporty character of the car, designers have eliminated the grills from the front bumper.

The engine hood of the Lamborghini Huracan Performante is also produced from Forged Composite emphasising its lightweight construction and receives a plexiglass cover over the engine inside The integrated air intakes in the engine bonnet provide airflow to the rear wing inner ducts and cooling air to the engine. The V10 power plant’s manifold cover in produced in bronze. This finish is used in other special edition engines and acts as a reminder of Lamborghini heritage as well as indicating the enhanced engine and increased power output.

The race car inspired rear features extensive use of carbon fibre and Forged Composite components, stressing the importance of active aerodynamics. The rear wing with integrated air channels is a complex part and could only have been made in one piece using the Forged Composite technology. The high-mounted exhausts, similar to extreme sports motorcycles create a more direct physical connection with the engine. The Huracan Performante also has a rear diffuser in matt black which is inspired by the Lamborghini Super Trofeo race cars, in both form and function.

On the side, the rocker cover with air intakes is in matt black and have the Italian tricolour on the doors. The wing mirrors are painted in a glossy black colour. The Lamborghini Huracan Performante rides on specially designed, Narvi 20-inch forged wheels. Also available are the 20 inch Loge forged rims with central lock. These rims are wrapped with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires, developed specifically for the Lamborghini Huracan Performante which have been designed to optimise road holding in both on and off ALA settings, in track conditions and also to provide excellent performance in normal road conditions. For track use, a high-performance tire, the Pirelli Trofeo R, with street homologation is also available.

Lamborghini Huracan Performante interior

The interior of the Lamborghini Huracan Performante is designed to remind the occupants of its lightweight and aerodynamic purpose. Air vents, door handles, paddles and the centre console are created from Forged Composite. Referencing its racing heritage, dark collared Alcantara fabric is utilized throughout the car, including on the seats where the customer can request an optional ‘Y’ graphic to be lasered. Comfort seats with the same trim are available as an option as well.

The special ALA graphic in the dashboard display shows when and how ALA is operating, including aero vectoring. The new digital cockpit displays are configurable depending on the driving mode selected: Strada, Sport or Corsa, with a display dedicated to the ALA detailing data on downforce and drag.

The supercar also supports Apple CarPlay and its iPhone apps including the Lamborghini telemetry system, which enables the driver to record, replay and analyze his own performance. Utilising the Lamborghini Ad Personam Program, buyers can personalise their Huracan Performante accordingly.

The Lamborghini Huracan Performante is powered by an enhanced naturally aspirated engine which is the most powerful V10 motor produced to date by the Italian supercar maker. It produces a power of 640 hp along with 600 Nm of torque. The engine has been tuned with inputs from Lamborghini’s motorsports program. The engine is coupled with Lamborghini’s seven-speed dual clutch transmission that has also been optimised to cope with the enhanced performance. The Huracan Performante can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds.

The engine gets new titanium valves that allow higher valve lifts. The air intake system along with fluid dynamics for both intake and exhaust have been optimised. The newly redesigned exhaust system is lighter and produces less back pressure. The exhaust pipes deliver a more aggressive sound during high-performance usage.

The suspension system of the Lamborghini Huracan Performante has been altered, considering its purpose as a track and performance-oriented car. The suspension has been vertically stiffened by 10% as compared to the Huracan coupe and roll stiffness improved by 15%. The double wishbone system features passive dampers with optional magnetorheological suspension to improve body and wheel control, especially on track.

Electromechanical power steering is offered as standard while there is also an option for the variable ratio Lamborghini Dynamic Steering (LDS). The Huracan Performante uses Lamborghini’s permanent four-wheel drive Haldex fifth generation system, fully electronically controlled, with rear mechanical self-locking differential which is tuned to maximise traction in all situations and works in conjunction with the ALA system. ESC has been calibrated to smooth intervention and be less intrusive.

Lamborghini’s Piattaforma Inerziale (LPI) governs all the car’s electronic systems in real time and is thoroughly integrated with the ALA system, activating the ALA system flaps in less than 500 milliseconds to provide the best aerodynamic set-up of the car in every driving condition.

The ANIMA system that tunes the set-up of all the car’s systems, has also been revised to improve the driving experience in each of the driving modes: Strada, Sport and Corsa. In Strada priority is given to stability and traction. Sport mode offers a more rear-wheel drive orientation, with oversteer behaviour and also permits for easier drifting. The Corsa driving mode is tuned more towards track use with a focus on peak performance and handling.

The Lamborghini Huracan Performante is equipped with ventilated and cross-drilled carbon ceramic discs that serve a highly responsive braking system, providing smooth, continuous braking. It brakes from 100-0 km/h in 31 m. The front has six-piston brake callipers while the rear gets four-piston callipers which are actuated by a hydraulic dual-circuit system with vacuum brake servo unit. The ABS also offers up drastically improved performance and pedal feedback.
